Full job description
Levenfeld Pearlstein is redefining what growth looks like at a law firm. We are seeking a dynamic leader who builds trust quickly across practice groups and knows how to read a room, a client, and a partner. Building on a strong marketing foundation, this role brings business development, client experience, and marketing together under one strategy. The Chief Growth Officer possesses a sophisticated understanding of the legal industry, emerging market forces, operational drivers of profitability, and the dynamics of high-impact client development.
The ideal candidate will see patterns others miss, where one practice's client relationships open doors for another, where cross-selling opportunities live beneath the surface, and where a coordinated growth strategy beats a patchwork of individual efforts. You'll develop strong working relationships with firm management, practice group leaders, and rainmakers, grounded in a genuine understanding of the firm’s culture, what each practice does, who its clients are, and where its niches sit. You're a strategic partner first, someone who builds the plan with our attorneys and then supports execution.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Growth Officer will bring deep industry experience, innovative thinking, and strong relationship management skills to align growth strategies with firmwide goals. If you thrive at the intersection of vision and execution, and you are energized by building something from the ground up, we want to talk with you.
Experience that makes you a fit:
Growth Strategy
Building and owning a firmwide growth plan tied to measurable revenue targets and working with practice group leaders to align each group's strategy with it.
Identifying and prioritizing the industry verticals and market opportunities where LP can realistically win, informed by market intelligence and competitive insights that feed firm planning and client-investment decisions.
Systematically identifying white space at existing clients, assembling the right cross-practice team, and driving outreach through to results, increasing the number of practice areas LP delivers to clients.
Developing and leading client retention and growth strategies, including leading client teams and client feedback initiatives, focusing on clients with strong profitability and potential for expansion.
Collaborating with firm leadership on pricing strategy and value-delivery approaches that support the firmwide growth plan.
Building referral relationships, including professional networks and industry associations, into a tracked and managed channel.
Overseeing the firm’s business development training curriculum to cultivate the next generation of firm leaders.
Targets, Pursuits, and Revenue Enablement
Overseeing pitch and proposal strategy, RFP responses, client presentations, and pursuit management firmwide, with pipeline visibility and win-rate tracking.
Identifying and qualifying new-client targets, giving the firm a clear, realistic view of where to focus pursuit energy.
Managing market research and competitive analysis to enhance pursuits.
Bringing rigor to which opportunities and sponsorships LP pursues and tracking ROI.
Marketing and Branding
Elevating the LP brand via strong events, thought leadership, content, digital and web presence, including how practices and lawyers are presented in the market.
Leading the firm’s digital marketing strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives, brand positioning, and client engagement goals.
Ensuring all client-facing events are strategic endeavors by leading target identification and preparation beforehand, a strong presence where it matters, and disciplined follow-up after.
Identifying, implementing, and continuously refining marketing strategies, tactics, tools, and procedures utilizing data-driven insights.
Leading directory submissions, rankings, and awards.
Managing and regularly evaluating marketing vendor relationships.
Leadership and Management
Delivering clear leadership that establishes credibility with firm leaders, attorneys, staff, and clients.
Providing a vision and leadership to the marketing and business development team, hiring and enabling a high-performing, proactive culture through effective performance management, communication, and ongoing development.
Managing the marketing budget and allocating resources effectively to maximize ROI.
Developing and implementing best practices for the firm’s growth technology stack, including its CRM and experience database.
Identifying and implementing AI tools that improve client acquisition, cross-selling, referral generation, and client retention.
Leveraging AI-powered market intelligence to identify growth opportunities, competitive threats, and emerging industry trends.
Collaborating with LP’s Talent, Finance, Practice Operations, and Technology leaders on cross-departmental initiatives.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree required; MBA or JD strongly preferred.
Minimum 10–15+ years of experience in business development and/or client management at a law firm.
Proven success developing and executing firmwide growth strategies and client-centric business initiatives.
Demonstrated command of brand and marketing strategy, including thought leadership, digital presence, and the ability to differentiate a firm in a crowded market.
Exceptional communication, change management, and executive influencing skills.
Experience leading high-performing teams and complex, cross-functional initiatives.
Strong grasp of legal market economics, profitability drivers, pricing methodologies, and competitive positioning.
This role is based in Chicago, IL.
