Job Description
We're looking for a Communications Officer to join our Code Communications team and help tell important stories that influence industry behaviour, strengthen confidence in financial services and contribute to fairer outcomes for consumers.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an early-career communications professional who is passionate about writing, storytelling, media, digital communications and creating content that makes complex information easy to understand.
Working closely with the Head of Communications, Code, you'll contribute to a broad range of communications activities that support the Code Compliance and Monitoring Group and its independent Committees.
What you'll do:
Write and edit engaging content for reports, publications, stakeholder communications, media materials, presentations, social media and internal channels.
Transform complex data, findings and industry issues into clear, accessible and impactful communications.
Publish and maintain website content, ensuring quality, accessibility and consistency.
Create professional visual content using approved templates and design tools.
Support media engagement activities, including identifying story opportunities, preparing media materials and coordinating responses to enquiries.
Collaborate with subject matter experts, leadership teams, independent committees and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality communications projects.
Monitor communications performance and contribute ideas that improve engagement and impact.
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who is curious, proactive, enthusiastic and eager to learn.
You'll bring:
A tertiary qualification in communications, public relations, journalism or a related discipline, supported by strong academic results.
A sound understanding of communications theory, contemporary practice and the role communications can play in building awareness, influencing behaviour and supporting organisational outcomes.
Outstanding writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear, engaging and audience-focused way.
An interest in media relations and current affairs, with strong news judgement and confident communication skills.
Experience using design tools such as Canva or Adobe to create professional communications materials.
Familiarity with website content management systems, digital publishing and accessibility principles.
Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
A collaborative approach, sound judgement and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
