Full job description
About the Foundation:
The OpenClaw Foundation is the steward of the world's largest open source AI agent project. Its mission is grounded in a foundational conviction: that AI must be open, safe, and ultimately owned by the individuals and communities who use it.
The Foundation operates across three core mandates:
Advancing research into the human-agent relationship while continuously evolving the OpenClaw platform;
Maintaining and hardening the codebase to ensure security, reliability, and long-term sustainability;
Establishing interoperability standards for the emerging agent era, defining how agents configure, communicate, establish trust, transact, and represent user identity across ecosystems.
Modeled after the governance structures that shaped the open web and modern computing infrastructure, the Foundation serves as a neutral, multi-stakeholder convening body — the equivalent of W3C or the Linux Foundation for the agentic AI era. Major laboratories and infrastructure providers collaborate under its umbrella on shared, vendor-neutral infrastructure, with no single organization controlling the roadmap or direction.
The OpenClaw Foundation believes that individuals should have full sovereignty over their AI: their data, their interactions, and the behavior and personality of their agents. Open source is not incidental to this mission but central to it — code must remain free to use, modify, and build upon. The future of agentic AI will be defined by a broad, developer-driven community, not prescribed by any single commercial interest.
The Role
OpenClaw is seeking a Head of Developer Relations to build and scale one of the most important developer communities in AI.
This is a foundational leadership role responsible for growing the ecosystem around OpenClaw, supporting contributors, engaging developers, and establishing OpenClaw as the default platform for building open AI agents. You will sit at the intersection of product, engineering, research, standards, and community, serving as both an advocate for developers and a champion for the Foundation's mission.
The success of OpenClaw will not be measured solely by the software we build internally, but by the thousands of developers, researchers, startups, enterprises, and open source contributors who choose to build with it. Your job is to help create that movement.
You will own developer engagement strategy end-to-end: content, community, documentation, events, partnerships, education, contributor growth, and ecosystem development. You'll spend time speaking with developers, creating technical content, representing OpenClaw at conferences, supporting contributors, and helping shape the product roadmap through direct community feedback.
The ideal candidate is equal parts builder, storyteller, educator, and community leader. They understand how successful open source ecosystems are created and are excited about helping define the future of open agent infrastructure.
What You'll Do
Community & Ecosystem Growth
Develop and execute OpenClaw's global developer relations strategy.
Grow and nurture a vibrant community of developers, contributors, researchers, startups, and partners.
Establish programs that encourage community participation, contributions, and ecosystem growth.
Create pathways for developers to become long-term contributors and leaders within the OpenClaw ecosystem.
Build relationships with AI labs, startups, infrastructure providers, universities, and research organizations.
Developer Advocacy
Serve as a public-facing representative of OpenClaw across conferences, meetups, podcasts, webinars, and industry events.
Create technical content including demos, tutorials, workshops, presentations, videos, blog posts, and educational materials.
Translate complex technical concepts into compelling narratives for developers and builders.
Collect community feedback and advocate internally for developer needs and priorities.
Content & Education
Oversee developer onboarding experiences and educational resources.
Partner with engineering teams to improve documentation, SDKs, APIs, examples, and tutorials.
Build learning programs that help developers successfully deploy and extend OpenClaw.
Develop technical curriculum, certification programs, workshops, and community training initiatives.
Contributor Experience
Improve contributor workflows and onboarding processes for open source participants.
Support maintainers and community contributors across Foundation projects.
Create systems for recognizing and rewarding community contributions.
Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and collaborative open source culture.
Events & Partnerships
Lead OpenClaw's presence at developer conferences and industry events.
Partner closely with the Foundation's Events team to shape technical programming, workshops, hackathons, and community gatherings.
Help establish OpenClaw as a leading voice in open source AI and agent interoperability.
Build strategic relationships with ecosystem partners that accelerate adoption and community growth.
What We're Looking For
8+ years of experience in Developer Relations, Developer Advocacy, Community, Product Marketing, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Proven experience building and scaling developer communities.
Strong technical background with the ability to engage credibly with engineers, researchers, and technical founders.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated experience creating technical content that developers genuinely find useful.
Experience speaking at conferences, meetups, webinars, or public events.
Strong understanding of open source software communities and contributor ecosystems.
Ability to operate independently and thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
Passion for AI, developer platforms, open source software, and emerging technologies.
Nice to Have
Experience building communities around open source projects.
Prior experience in AI, machine learning, developer tooling, cloud infrastructure, or platform technologies.
Existing relationships within the AI, open source, startup, or developer ecosystem.
Experience managing community programs, ambassador networks, or contributor initiatives.
Familiarity with standards organizations, governance models, and ecosystem-building efforts.
Hands-on experience building with AI agents, LLMs, or modern AI frameworks.
Experience leading or managing Developer Relations teams.
