Join Our Team as a Senior In-House Disputes & Commercial Generalist at Axiom
Location: Hybrid – Mountain View or San Francisco, California | On-site at least 3 days per week
We are seeking a Senior In-House Disputes & Commercial Generalist to support our client, one of the largest tech companies in the world. In this role, you will apply your broad in-house experience to help researchers develop and evaluate legal AI models while translating complex legal issues into practical business guidance.
Responsibilities:
Developing in-house legal scenarios, prompts, training data, and evaluation rubrics for legal AI models.
Supporting workflows involving contract review, disputes, commercial negotiations, regulatory inquiries, employment matters, intake and triage, and vendor management.
Owning training and evaluation workflows from scenario development through quality checks, validation, and rating.
Stress-testing legal AI outputs and collaborating with researchers and vendors to improve model performance.
Reviewing model-generated legal guidance for accuracy, commercial practicality, and alignment with business priorities.
Identifying realistic in-house legal scenarios that test a model’s ability to assess risk and provide actionable guidance.
Qualifications:
Active California Bar admission and 7+ years of in-house legal experience at a mid-to-large company.
Direct experience handling contract disputes, commercial negotiations, regulatory inquiries, employment matters, and vendor management.
Strong legal research, drafting, review, strategy, and practical business risk assessment skills.
Familiarity with CourtListener, Caselaw Access Project, SEC EDGAR, and Westlaw and/or LexisNexis.
Juris Doctor degree or equivalent and licensed to practice law in an applicable jurisdiction.
Preferred Skills:
A blend of in-house, BigLaw, and/or mid-size/boutique experience.
Strong interest in legal AI and translating practical in-house expertise into effective AI training and evaluation materials.
Compensation:
The estimated total compensation for full-time Axiom attorney roles is $104,500-325,000 per year and for non-attorney roles is $71,250-309,750 per year.Compensation decisions are based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skills, certifications, location, and business needs. Employees may be eligible for additional benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance; paid holidays and PTO; flexible work arrangements; and professional development opportunities and tools.
