Perform advanced repairs, installations, and rebuilding of Caterpillar and other OEM industrial engines and components. Conduct troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and detailed service documentation to restore equipment to proper operation.
Requires a high school diploma or GED and six years of experience, including at least two years with Cat equipment. Must be proficient in at least two mechanical systems and capable of lifting up to 120 pounds.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The primary function of this position is to determine the status of service needed for Caterpillar Industrial engines and components and perform advanced repairs, replacements, installations, or re-building of parts to restore the engine to the proper operation. This is not limited to Caterpillar engines only. This would include other OEMs such as Cummins, John Deere, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Must have a high school education or GED.
Work Experience:
Six years of experience with at least two years of experience with Cat equipment. Must be proficient in at least two mechanical systems (i.e. transmissions, engines, hydraulics, etc.) for numerous model lines.
Physical:
Must be able to daily and repeatedly stoop, kneel, bend, climb beside, onto and underneath various equipment to perform diagnosis and repairs. Must be able to effectively see to perform repairs, research technical manuals, and develop written repair work order reports. Must be able to routinely and physically lift/position various parts to perform repairs/service and manually handle parts up to 120 pounds, as well as use mechanical hoist or crane for heavier parts.
Other:
Must be able to effectively write repair activities on customer work orders. Must have cognitive reasoning and problem-solving skills to apply knowledge, written information, and verbal instructions in repairing/servicing unusual and/or unknown technical equipment operational problems. Must be proficient with computers and computer-based troubleshooting and research for both equipment and parts. Can work independently with minimal supervision.
