This position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer eager to gain hands-on project experience, collaborate with industry experts, and grow within a company that prioritizes professional development. You'll work on meaningful utility projects, develop technical skills, and contribute to designs supporting the City of Charlotte's large-scale initiatives, as well as utility installations and upgrades for DOT projects. This role provides a mix of office work, field visits, and some remote flexibility, offering well-rounded exposure to all phases of project execution and design.
Location Requirement: Candidates must currently reside in the Charlotte, NC area, as local presence is required to support project and client needs.
What you'll do:
Apply technical knowledge to designs, ensuring adherence to project specifications, scope, cost, schedule, and quality requirements.
Collaborate closely with Customers & Construction to complete design packages.
Support the preparation of simple designs including calculations, drawings, and analysis
Gain hands-on experience with CAD programs (e.g., Maximo and DesignLight)
Apply industry codes and standards, including RUS, NESC, and utility-specific guidelines.
Conduct field inspections for every job to gather design data, establish customer contact and support construction coordination.
Communicate challenges related to scope, cost, schedule, or quality clearly and professionally to appropriate contacts.
Identify information that should be communicated to clients and stakeholders through team leads and project managers.
Self-check design work prior to reviews
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in engineering from ABET accredited university
Minimum 0-1 years of electrical distribution design experience.
