The NextGen Security Automation team is looking for a skilled and driven Software Development Engineer (SDE II) to build autonomous security solutions that protect Amazon’s customers. As an SDE II, you will leverage AI/ML technologies to automate detection, analysis, and response across proactive, offensive, and defensive security at scale. Your work will directly enhance Amazon’s security posture by improving detection capabilities, strengthening guardrails, and advancing automated security tools.
Key job responsibilities Design and develop AI/ML-driven security automation systems to detect and mitigate threats at scale. Build and maintain scalable applications that enable real-time threat detection and response. Collaborate with security teams to enhance existing security practices, guardrails, and tooling. Develop automated detection systems integrated into Amazon’s security infrastructure. Research and prototype new security solutions, evaluating design approaches for technical feasibility.

Basic Qualifications:
- Experience (non-internship) in professional software development - Experience in professional, non-internship software development - Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design - Minimum 6+ years of experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent - Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations - Experience with AWS Services including EC2, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, SQS - Experience developing, deploying and managing AI products at scale
