Summary: The Special Projects Attendant position is mainly responsible for keeping the park grounds free of various trash and debris, vandalism, and dead animals, as well as taking on any other special projects that may be assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned
Removal of all large, unusual litter, which includes tree branches, tires, dead animals, furniture, car parts and any other unwanted debris that is left on park grounds.
Cleaning and maintenance of all shelters, and event spaces ahead of rented events.
Pressure washing of surfaces, playgrounds, benches, and any other areas as needed to remove gum, vandalism, and other unwanted substances.
Cleaning and maintenance of Dog Park, including pressure washing surfaces, cleaning hair out of the gutters, refilling dog poop bags, and any other routine tasks.
Cleaning and maintenance of Special Projects equipment and vehicles.
Cleaning out of drains and catch basins, as needed and ahead of inclement weather.
Assists with the use of larger machinery such as tractors,front-end loaders, and skid steers for large debris removals, spreading rock, and other projects.
Fixing, removal, and replacement of signage around the park.
Assists other teams within the department with simple jobs such as tree spotting for the Arborist, trench digging for the Irrigation Specialist, transportation of plants or materials for the Horticulture team, etc.
Assists other teams outside the department with special tasks such as putting up lights for CITO or putting out barricades, etc.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
High School diploma or GED.
A valid Louisiana driver’s license.

The physical demands described here are those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The physical demands will require the employee to occasionally lift or move objects of up to 50lbs in all directions.
The ability to speak and hear is required. The employee must be able to exchange ideas by means of the spoken word, in which they must convey detailed instructions to others to exchange information and assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned. The employee must have the ability to hear sounds at a normal speaking level with or without correction, including the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discrimination in sound.
The employee must be able to worka flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Shift is Wednesday - Sunday, 6:30 am - 3:30 p.m. Weekend work is required. There may be additional overtime opportunities when permitted. Grounds positions may work special events with approved overtime. Full time, non-exempt, 40 hours per week.
