About Our Family
We're a busy, active family with two wonderful kids (under age 10), a lovable yellow Lab who keeps us on our toes (and leaves plenty of fur behind!), and two parents balancing demanding careers. Between school, after-school activities, work commitments, and everyday life, our weeks move quickly. We genuinely love spending time together and have worked hard to build a home that feels welcoming, organized, and peaceful. For us, a clean, well-functioning household isn't just a preference — it's what allows our family to feel less stressed and more connected.
Over the years, we've tried just about every solution to stay ahead of household responsibilities, from meal delivery services to in-home cooking. What we've realized is that what we truly need is a proactive, dependable professional who can become a trusted extension of our family. Someone who notices when pantry staples are running low, keeps fresh food ready for the week, manages laundry from start to finish, resets the home each day, and tackles the organizational projects that often get pushed aside. We'd love for our weekends to be spent making memories with our kids—not catching up on chores.
If you take genuine pride in creating order, love anticipating needs before anyone has to ask, and find satisfaction in a beautifully maintained home, you'll fit right in. We're looking for someone who is organized, self-directed, and professional—someone who enjoys working behind the scenes to help a busy family thrive. While occasional help with the kids or our dog may come up as trust is built, your greatest impact will be giving our family the gift of a home that feels calm, prepared, and ready for whatever the week brings.
Who You Are / What We're Looking For
The right person for this role is someone who takes genuine pride in creating a calm, organized home where busy families can thrive. You don't wait to be told what needs attention—you notice it, own it, and take action. Ideally, you bring previous household management or family assistant experience and understand that the greatest value you provide comes from anticipating needs before they become tasks.
You are exceptionally proactive. You naturally think three steps ahead, noticing what needs attention before anyone has to ask and taking ownership from start to finish.
You are highly organized and detail-oriented. You love creating and maintaining systems, whether that's keeping the pantry stocked, rotating fresh produce, staying ahead of household inventory, or ensuring laundry is completely finished and put away.
You have a Type A mindset. You take pride in creating order, consistency, and a home that always feels prepared for the week ahead.
You bring ideas, not just execution. You're confident making thoughtful recommendations to improve how the household functions and enjoy finding better, more efficient ways of doing things.
You work independently. Once you understand the family's routines and expectations, you don't need daily direction or checklists to stay productive.
You are professional and quietly efficient. You're warm, personable, and easy to work with, but you understand this is a professional role. You respect the family's time, value focused work, and know when conversation takes a back seat to getting things done.
You are dependable. Being punctual, reliable, and following through on commitments is simply part of who you are.
You communicate with professionalism. You're receptive to feedback, communicate clearly, and avoid unnecessary drama or bringing strong personal opinions into the home.
You enjoy supporting a busy family behind the scenes. You find genuine satisfaction in knowing your work gives the family more time together and less time worrying about household responsibilities.
You're comfortable around children and happy to help when needed. While this is primarily a household management role, you're comfortable stepping in for occasional school pickups, transportation, or light childcare as trust is established.
You're comfortable with dogs. A friendly yellow Lab is part of the family, so you're happy working in a home with a large dog (an occasional walk is a bonus but not required).
You're looking to become a trusted partner. You treat the home with care, take ownership of your responsibilities, respect the family's privacy, and are excited to build a long-term working relationship.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Errands
Manage pantry, fridge, and household supply inventory — keeping snacks stocked, fruit fresh, and staples replenished before they run out
Build and manage grocery orders (Whole Foods via Amazon, Costco, Target, Thrive Market)
Conduct weekly fridge clean-outs and food rotation before restocking
Handle returns, dry cleaning drop-off and pickup, and occasional pharmacy runs
Bring in mail and packages; open expected deliveries, put items away, and break down boxes
Research and suggest gift options for birthdays and occasions; set reminders to keep the family ahead of schedule
Manage ongoing household subscriptions and orders
Laundry & Linens
Full ownership of all household laundry: wash, dry, fold, and put away for all family members
Weekly rotation of sheets and towels
Steam garments as needed
Maintain a well-stocked and tidy laundry area
Meal Support
Meal prep 2–3 nights per week: chopping, marinating, steaming, washing produce, and prepping ingredients so the family can finish and serve (not full cooking)
Wash and store berries and produce to extend freshness
Keep healthy snacks stocked and ready
Household Organization & Maintenance
Daily home reset: dishes, surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas, and general tidying
Prepare the home ahead of biweekly cleaners and handle tasks the cleaners don't cover
Seasonal clothing swaps, décor transitions, and bedding rotations
Coordinate donation drop-offs
Unpack after travel; reset sports bags after weekend use
Replace light bulbs, smoke detector batteries, air filters, and humidifier maintenance
Proactive home maintenance tracking using a seasonal household calendar
Organizational projects throughout the home (pantry systems, bins, measuring and ordering organizational supplies, and returning what doesn't work)
Deep Cleaning & Special Projects
Weekly fridge clean-out and food rotation
Clean humidifiers as needed
One-time basement reorganization: sorting and organizing storage bins
Ongoing organizational projects as priorities develop (kids’ toy bins to remove broken toys or reduce quantity)
Family Support
Prep backpacks, sports gear, and snacks in anticipation of the week's schedule
Ad hoc school pickups and drop-offs as the relationship develops
Occasional date night or overnight childcare support over time
Calendar visibility to stay aligned with the family's weekly schedule
Ad hoc appointment scheduling
Vendor & Property Oversight
Serve as on-site point of contact for contractors, vendors, and service providers (e.g., monthly pest control)
Research and coordinate repair quotes
Maintain a monthly home maintenance calendar and flag upcoming needs
Vehicle Upkeep
Occasional family vehicle drop-off for maintenance and car washes
Pet Care
Dog walking is a bonus, not a requirement; comfort around a large, high-energy dog is required
