Job Description:
Summary:
An independent and motivated research-oriented student who takes initiative desired for marketing professor who conducts research across disciplines and teaches courses on “Race in the Marketplace” and “Marketing for Social Change.” The professor also researches teaching processes and student learning.
The assistant will work with the professor to facilitate teaching of two classes focused on the social dimensions of marketing activities.
Essential Functions:
Creating and formatting diagrams, charts, graphs, and Power Point slides for class notes and presentations.
Reviewing, summarizing, and integrating key points from articles.
Identifying practical examples of marketing activities to use in class, including independently identifying marketing articles for the professor to review.
Performing project-specific outreach to external partners.
Helping to maintain/enhance professor’s social media and networking presence.
Providing administrative support, when needed (including data entry, mass mailings and taking and preparing meeting notes).
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Part-time.
10 hours per week.
Salary Range:
$18.40 - $20.00 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
Excellent reading comprehension, organization, writing, and communication skills are a must – both oral and through documentation. Attention to detail is highly valued.
The assistant must regularly be able to make things consistent, including in PowerPoints for class, in materials for students, and any other items the professor provides. It is important that the assistant can catch small errors.
Demonstrate good computer skills, including use of Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint, and the willingness to learn other software tools (e.g. Endnote) if not already familiar.
Knowledge of online library computer databases and related resources, and strong facility in accessing academic journal articles, popular press reports and other materials.
Experience in acquiring, managing, and synthesizing information on business and social research topics. Solid analytical abilities are helpful.
Facility in conceptualizing, structuring, and managing multiple tasks, as well as clear understanding and ability to prioritize tasks based on both provided deadlines and general understanding of the project's schedule.
Creativity, resourcefulness, and initiative concerning identifying needed resources and completing assigned tasks.
Ability to communicate well with professors, other students, project clients, and others.
Attention to detail for professionalism, ensuring that all materials, communications, and activities adhere to the standards of professionalism as explicitly detailed by Kogod School of Business.
