About the Role
Weatherly Inn is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Director of Nursing to support high-quality resident care in our assisted living and memory care community. This role is ideal for a licensed LPN or RN who values teamwork, strong clinical standards, and meaningful relationships with residents and families.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care in accordance with care plans and physician orders
Administer medications, treatments, and CBG checks with accurate documentation
Monitor and document changes in resident condition and report concerns promptly
Communicate effectively with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary teams
Complete shift reports, narcotic counts, and incident documentation
Follow infection control, safety procedures, and boarding home regulations
Serve as Charge Nurse when scheduled or in absence of supervision
Maintain a clean, organized nursing station and medication room
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required; College Degree in Nursing preferred
5+ year of nursing or related experience preferred; with 2 years in supervisory role required
Active Washington State LPN License required
Demonstrated high clinical competence and knowledge of nursing care needs and high quality documentation, thorough knowledge and understanding of WA. Boarding Home regulations
Required certifications (upon hire or within designated time frame):
CPR (within 30 days)
Fundamentals of Caregiving
Dementia & Mental Health Training (within 90 days)
WA. state Driver License with no infractions within 3 years
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Learn to know special needs of residents and report changes in behavior (physical or emotional) to nursing.
Be familiar with and follow Employee Handbook, Performance Expectations, and specific job duties.
Able to receive/return routine phone calls from TWI within 24 hours; urgent within 4
Report needed repairs or unsafe conditions to maintenance or supervisor.
Report immediately on any job injury to supervisor or charge nurse.
Maintain a clean work environment.
Leadership and supervision of the department.
Resident Care
Supervise all aspects of resident care, setting high standards.
Initiate and conduct collaborative family care conferences.
Conduct assessments of potential candidates and re-assess current residents annually or when there is a change in condition.
Review physician orders quarterly.
Monitor effective nursing notes, alert charting and other nursing documentation.
Work collaboratively with external health care providers.
Oversee storage, administration, documentation and proper disposal of medications.
Manage or monitor emergency situations and initiate “life saving” measures per law.
Supervision
Act as role model for staff, exhibiting and promoting professional tact, courtesy, and respect to residents, families, employees, and other professionals.
Recruit, interview, hire, train, in service, evaluate, discipline and recommend termination.
Be available by phone and “on-call” for staff questions and for fill-in.
Oversee proper staffing levels while minimizing overtime and agency fill-ins.
Conduct staff meetings with all shifts and oversee weekly in-service trainings for nursing staff, as well as mandatory monthly or quarterly department meetings.
Communicate weekly and effectively with the General Manager.
Adhere to, promote, and collaborate with the General Manager to implement policies and procedures.
Prepare and submit reports as requested by the General Manager.
Adhere to Assisted Living nursing budget and provide input into budget preparation.
Participate in staff and community marketing events such as Christmas parties and open houses.
Assume responsibility of the facility in absence of the General Manager.
Community Relations
Develop and maintain strong relationships with residents and families to ensure high quality care and customer satisfaction.
Establish and maintain good public relations with hospital discharge coordinators, social service consultants and other patient advocates.
Participate in marketing efforts such as tours, senior health fairs, conferences and visitation of other health care communities.
Coordinate resident admissions, transfers and discharges with community agencies and other facilities.
Work closely with Community Outreach coordinators on admissions.
Ensure compliance with all state and federal nursing regulations and guidelines.
Respond to any deficiencies and/or requests made by regulatory agencies, e.g. DSHS inspection findings.
Assist with maintaining facility-wide Accident Prevention Program and required training, e.g., HIV/AIDS, Exposure Control Plan and infectious waste management.
Review and complete incident reports in a timely manner, documenting disposition.
Participate in quarterly quality assurance meetings.
Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.
