To achieve this vision, Beam has assembled a platform with integrated gene editing, delivery and internal manufacturing capabilities. Beam’s suite of gene editing technologies is anchored by base editing, a proprietary technology that is designed to enable precise, predictable and efficient single base changes, at targeted genomic sequences, without making double-stranded breaks in the DNA. This has the potential to enable a wide range of therapeutic editing strategies that Beam is using to advance a diversified portfolio of base editing programs. Beam is a values-driven organization committed to its people, cutting-edge science, and a vision of providing life-long cures to patients suffering from serious diseases.

The VP of Clinical Development will oversee implementation and maintenance of all metabolic internal clinical development programs and will also have the strategic view and excellence in execution to continue to grow the strength and scope of the internal pipeline, in addition to participating in potential business development opportunities, including additional acquisitions. Importantly, the role will be highly visible requiring effectively communicating the Beam Vision and Values in metabolic diseases to other functional groups and to key external stakeholders.

Lead efforts to develop, refine a vision for the Beam metabolic franchise strategy in a collaborative environment.

Ensure high quality clinical development standards with respect to clinical study design, conduct, and oversight of patient safety.
Support the Research & Development Leadership Team as well as Business Development as it relates to metabolic research and clinical development activities.
Work closely with research teams to develop next gen therapeutic programs.
Attend and help prepare material for medical conferences, Regulatory Agency meetings, Advisory Boards and other relevant clinical events as required.
Manage and mentor multiple physicians and clinical scientist direct reports.
Qualifications:
MD, DO or equivalent ex-US medical degree with 15+ years’ experience, 10+ years clinical development experience in industry is a must. Final level and scope of role will be commensurate with experience.
