The Certified Medical Assistant will provide clinical support to patients within a correctional facility, including performing assessments, administering medication, and assisting healthcare providers. They will also manage administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and maintaining medical supply inventories.
Candidates must hold a CMA certification and have completed an accredited medical assisting program, along with a high school diploma or GED. Applicants must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening, and possess the physical ability to perform demanding tasks.
NaphCare is hiring a PRN Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team of medical professionals in the Hillsborough County Jail in Tampa, Florida.
As a Correctional CMA, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have various duties to keep you engaged including assisting physicians and other healthcare professionals with examinations, taking patient histories, vital signs, supporting administrative tasks, etc. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.

As a CMA, you will play a critical role in our continued mission to provide quality healthcare that protects the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Duties and responsibilities may include and not be limited to:

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
