Full job description
Company Overview
Echo Neurotechnologies is an exciting new startup in the Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) space, driving innovation through advanced hardware engineering and AI solutions. Our mission is to deliver cutting-edge technologies that restore autonomy to people living with disabilities and improve their quality of life.
Team Culture
Join a small, dedicated team of knowledgeable and motivated professionals. Our early-stage environment offers the opportunity to take ownership of broad decisions with significant and long-lasting impact. We emphasize continuous learning and growth, fostering cross-functional collaboration where your contributions are vital to our success.
SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Program Manager (Electronics) with a strong background in electrical engineering, firmware architecture, embedded electronics, medical devices, design verification and validation (V&V), and knowledge of medical device design controls. In this role, you will lead cross-functional engineering teams in the development, integration, and delivery of complex electromechanical devices, embedded firmware systems, and custom ASIC architectures.
PRIMARY ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Senior Technical Program Manager (Electronics), you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end execution of a novel medical device program at the electronics system level, ensuring collaboration and communication across the core teams and leaders, as well as compliance with regulatory and quality requirements. This position requires a unique balance of strategic leadership and technical depth—the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams while also engaging in detailed technical discussions with engineers. You will use your leadership skills to help the team problem-solve, drive decision-making, and deliver results.
Program lead for cross-functional engineering teams; proactively drive planning and execution across Electrical Engineering (EE), Firmware (FW), Systems, Quality, and Manufacturing teams.
Drive end-to-end alignment between EE and FW teams to ensure seamless hardware-software co-design, board bring-up, signal integrity, and system-level debugging.
Oversee technical execution and lifecycle deliverables for custom ASIC components, embedded electronics, microcontrollers, and sensor interfaces.
Manage and influence relationships with internal and external partners, including ASIC designers, PCB fabricators, firmware contractors, external test labs, and manufacturing partners across all development phases (IDE, clinical trials, PMA).
Act as the primary technical point of contact for program status, clearly communicating architecture trade-offs, technical risks, schedule dependencies, and mitigation strategies.
Develop and execute detailed program roadmaps, including HW board spins, FW sprint milestones, risk management, and resource allocation.
Lead project design control deliverables under FDA and ISO standards (including IEC 62304 and ISO14971), such as EE/FW Architecture specifications, Risk Analyses, DVT, MVP, and V&V execution.
Use Jira, Smartsheet, Confluence, and Agile/Scrum tracking tools to manage firmware releases, hardware revision cycles, sprints, and project progress with clear team accountability.
Provide technical leadership during design reviews, circuit/firmware root-cause problem solving, and risk assessments using deep engineering fundamentals.
Proactively identify program bottlenecks, hardware lead-time risks, and firmware resource gaps, driving immediate technical solutions to ensure timely milestone delivery.
Foster a culture of engineering innovation, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and continuous process improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (e.g., Biomedical, Electrical, Computer or related field).
7-10+ years of program management or engineering leadership experience spanning hardware concept development to production release.
Strong technical background in electrical engineering, embedded firmware, electronics architecture, and understanding of V&V activities for electromechanical systems.
Serve as a key point of contact for external consultants and contractors, including development and manufacturing partners and suppliers.
Demonstrated success in managing complex technical programs with rigorous regulatory requirements and tight timelines.
Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools such as Smartsheet, Jira, sprint planning, and task tracking, including creating trackers, dashboards, and reporting.
Knowledge of medical device development processes, including design controls, risk management, and regulatory compliance for medical devices.
Experience and influence in establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and with partners in different time zones, building trust and demonstrating critical thinking and thoughtful leadership.
Experience managing suppliers (both domestic and international) for hardware components and subassemblies (electrical) development.
Knowledge of industry standards, regulatory requirements, and quality systems relevant to hardware and electronics, ISO 13485, IEC 60601 standards, and IEC 62304.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
No-nonsense ‘get it done’ attitude with strong analytical and technical problem-solving capabilities.
A proven track record for managing complex technical programs with tight timelines.
Strong leadership skills; self-starter, excellent listener, and thoughtful decision-maker.
Superior written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Salary
$180,000—$210,000 USD
