Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Athletic Trainer to support Badger High School in Lake Geneva as second trainer at school. This position will also support outpatient rehabilitation clinic at Sports Health Lake Geneva. Position is 1.0FTE and the division of hours at the school and clinic will fluctuate dependent on each sports season/contract with full time in the clinic during off school times.
Pay Range:
$26.55 - $39.85
Major Responsibilities:
Conduct assessments of injuries and refer patients to the appropriate healthcare services. Provide clear communication to patients regarding self-care, prevention, and treatment techniques.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Establish and execute treatment plans based on patient evaluations and health goals. Continuously monitor patient progress and adjust treatment as needed to ensure effective outcomes. Can direct athletes in performance enhancement programs for fitness or injury prevention.
Identify and attend to factors affecting the patient’s physical and emotional comfort, ensuring sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and needs.
Plan and facilitate patient discharge by providing at-home care instructions, family education, community referrals, and necessary equipment orders.
Complete all required documentation according to department policies, including patient assessments, progress notes, and billing records, while ensuring compliance with insurance guidelines.
Identify and support opportunities for community outreach to increase awareness of services and health education, fostering partnerships and potential referrals.
Ensure the treatment area is clean and organized, maintain equipment, and adhere to safety standards.
Current Athletic Training certification by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC).
Currently licensed or eligible for Athletic Trainer license issued by the state in which the teammate practices within 30 days of hire.
Ability to complete American Heart Association Healthcare Provider (BLS), which includes CPR and AED training within 30 days of hire.
Education Required:
Bachelor's degree in athletic training from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) program.
Experience Required:
No experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to include communicating with physicians, staff, community partners, and other patients/customers related to sports medicine.
Demonstrated ability to work on a multidisciplinary team in order to effectively treat and understand the needs of the sports medicine patients.
Demonstrated ability to independently make sound decisions regarding problems or operational issues.
Strong writing and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Must be able to:
lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
Lift up to 10 lbs. from waist to overhead.
Lift and carry up to 40 lbs. at waist height a reasonable distance.
Must be able to:
push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
Exposed to normal office environment.
Must have ability to work flexible schedule and in an environment that varies from office to outside temperatures/varying outdoor environments.
Position requires travel so will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
Must have functional use of senses to allow effective communication.
Ability to perform fine manipulation for dressing and massage applications.
Must frequently walk, assist and lift patient(s) as needed.
Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
Exposed to electrical and chemical hazards as well as blood and bodily fluids and is thus required to wear protective apparel as necessary.
