Responsibilities
The faculty member will provide direct psychiatric care, including evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy, within the Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic. Additionally, they will supervise and mentor psychiatry residents, medical students, and other trainees while contributing to clinical program development and scholarly activities.
Requirements
Candidates must hold an M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited institution and have completed an accredited psychiatry residency program. Applicants must also be eligible for medical licensure in Florida and board certification or eligibility in psychiatry.
The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida (UF) College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in our Adult Psychiatry Division.
This position is focused on providing direct psychiatric care in our Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic, along with supervising and mentoring adult psychiatry residents. Core responsibilities include conducting psychiatric evaluations, managing medications, and providing psychotherapy. The role also offers opportunities to participate in advanced treatment modalities, such as neuromodulation therapies (ECT, TMS), and to engage in specialized clinics (OCD, psychosis, neurodevelopmental disorders, mood disorders, etc.) based on individual expertise. Additional clinical opportunities may include consultation-liaison psychiatry and inpatient psychiatry based on experience and preference
Clinical Responsibilities
Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for adult outpatients, including medication management and psychotherapy.
Supervise and provide clinical oversight for psychiatry residents and fellows within the outpatient clinic.
Participate in neuromodulation services, such as Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), and esketamine treatments as appropriate.
Participate in or develop an area of clinical expertise that can contribute to outpatient psychiatric specialty clinics for conditions such as OCD, psychosis, neurodevelopmental disorders, mood disorders, etc. based on expertise.
Provide occasional consultation-liaison psychiatry services or inpatient service coverage as needed.
Participate in Adult Psychiatry call schedule.
Teaching and Mentorship
Supervise and mentor psychiatry residents, medical students, advanced practice providers (APPs) and other healthcare trainees in clinical settings.
Conduct lectures, seminars, and case reviews to enhance clinical learning and knowledge of adult psychiatry.
Participate in curriculum development and educational program planning to advance training in psychiatry.
Develop and deliver educational content on current psychiatric practices, psychopharmacology, and emerging treatment modalities.
Cultivate an area of scholarship in areas of expertise and interest that results in scholarly products including peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, academic conference presentations, etc.
Professional Engagement
Work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams and with various populations.
Engage in local, regional, and national collaborations that support professional growth.
Participate in the College of Medicine’s mission by contributing to clinical teaching, clinical program development, educational initiatives, and potentially clinical research programs.
Expected Salary:
$264,707 - $310,011
Required Qualifications:
M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited institution.
Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency program.
Eligibility for medical licensure in the state (e.g., Florida) and board certification or eligibility for board certification in Psychiatry.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary clinical teams and with various patient populations.
Commitment to patient-centered care, clinical teaching, and educational initiatives for medical students and residents.
Preferred:
Fellowship training in a psychiatry subspecialty (e.g., consultation-liaison psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, or psychotherapy).
Experience with neuromodulation therapies (e.g., ECT, TMS) and/or specialized care for OCD, psychosis, mood disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, or other patient group with specialized needs.
Experience teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, or other healthcare trainees in a clinical setting.
Interest or experience in clinical program development, quality improvement, or clinical research.

About Department of Psychiatry
Faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida are engaged in groundbreaking projects covering a variety of interests through our Centers, labs, and collaborations with other departments. The Department of Psychiatry includes a large outpatient center with various specialty clinics within (including one associated with our Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment), a very active inpatient service, psychiatry collaborative program for primary care practitioners, school consultation program, and community consultation services. The Department of Psychiatry spans services across adult, addiction, and child/adolescent specializations, including a freestanding psychiatric hospital, a large consult liaison service at the main UF Shands Hospital, the Florida Recovery Center operated by our Addiction Division, and multiple research centers including the Center for Addiction Research & Education and the Center for OCD and Related Disorders (COARD) and. UF is also an active site for the NIH-landmark Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study.
