The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, public areas, and medical storage spaces to ensure a safe environment. They also manage waste, transport soiled linens, and utilize department technology to support efficient room turnover.
Requirements
No prior experience is required for this position, though previous experience in healthcare or hospitality is preferred. Candidates must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English and follow detailed safety and infection prevention protocols.

As an Environmental Services Technician I, you will help maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness, infection prevention, and patient experience throughout our facilities.

What You'll Do
As an Environmental Services Technician I, you will:
Clean and disinfect patient rooms, bathrooms, public areas, corridors, medication storage areas, and other assigned spaces.
Perform daily room cleaning and support timely room turnover to assist with patient admissions and discharges.
Properly use cleaning chemicals, equipment, and labor-saving tools according to safety guidelines.
Replenish supplies, remove waste and biohazard materials, and transport soiled linen as required.
Change curtains, prepare rooms, and complete environmental cleaning tasks to maintain a safe patient care setting.
Utilize department technology systems, including bed management systems, to support operational efficiency.
Operate UV disinfection equipment as needed.
Follow proper hand hygiene, PPE, standard precautions, and isolation precaution procedures.
Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
Report safety concerns, equipment issues, and maintenance needs promptly.
Participate in performance improvement initiatives focused on cleanliness, safety, and patient satisfaction.
Maintain and properly operate EVS tools and equipment.
Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with patients, visitors, and healthcare team members.
Complete additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by EVS leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
No experience required.
Less than three (3) years of experience in healthcare support services, environmental services, hospitality, or a related field is acceptable.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and follow detailed instructions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality service.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in healthcare environmental services, hospitality, housekeeping, or facilities support.
Knowledge of infection prevention practices and healthcare cleaning standards.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment requiring attention to safety and detail.
Strong customer service and teamwork skills.
