What Makes This Role Great
In this role, you will be the primary authority on pricing and discount integrity, empowering you to shape go-to-market strategies, eliminate margin leakage, and modernize deal desk operations while mentoring the next generation of finance leaders.
Key Exciting Responsibilities
Deal Desk Leadership & Governance: Own the intake, review, and approval lifecycle for complex commercial deals. Enforce established pricing, discount, and credit policies to ensure compliance and profitability while facilitating sales velocity.
Strategic Pricing & Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as the primary financial liaison to Product Finance, GTM Finance, and Customer Finance. Lead initiatives to evaluate and refine pricing structures, ensuring that product packaging, bundle strategies, and renewal terms are calibrated to maximize gross margin while effectively minimizing churn risk.
ASP & Discount Analysis: Lead the ongoing monitoring of discounting trends and ASP volatility. Develop advanced reporting to identify pockets of margin leakage and provide actionable insights to GTM leadership on where to tighten or adjust pricing strategies.
Approval Workflow Optimization: Architect and refine our deal approval frameworks. Partner with Finance and IT stakeholders to transition from manual, spreadsheet-heavy and email workflows to automated, scalable systems that improve turn-around times without sacrificing control. Architect and refine our bad debt and credit memo approval frameworks to refine for efficiency and automation.
Commercial Partnering: Serve as the senior financial authority in deal negotiations. Coach the team to act as proactive commercial partners who can push back on non-standard deal structures (e.g., non-compliant rebates or terms) while maintaining constructive relationships with Sales and GTM leadership.
Team Mentorship: Manage, train, and develop a team of financial analysts. Foster an environment where staff are skilled not just in "reporting" numbers, but in understanding the "why" behind deal economics and translating complex modeling into executive-ready narratives.
Policy & Risk Oversight: Oversee sector-specific discounting frameworks and manage credit and collections risk assessments, including the review and approval of credit memos, and other policies and approval limits in alignment with associated corporate policies.
Essential Skills & Experience
5+ years of dedicated people management experience building and developing financial teams.
Extensive background in commercial finance, deal desk, or FP&A within SaaS or software sectors in construction or a similar industrial technology industry, including quote-to-cash mastery.
