Full job description
Energy Lead
Program Background
KINETIK, the Australia-Indonesia Climate and Sustainable Infrastructure Partnership, supports Indonesia to strengthen sustainable infrastructure systems, mobilise climate-aligned investment, and advance low-emissions and climate-resilient development. Working with the Government of Indonesia (GOI) and a broad network of public and private partners, the program seeks to expand investment in sustainable infrastructure while ensuring the inclusion of local communities, particularly women, girls and people with disabilities.
KINETIK contributes to three inter-related End of Program Outcomes (EOPOs):
Climate resilience: Investments from government, private and community actors increasingly contribute to climate mitigation and adaptation in Indonesia.
Innovative financing: GOI increasingly uses diverse, innovative and high-quality financing to support inclusive, climate-resilient development.
Sustainable infrastructure: GOI delivers sustainable and resilient economic infrastructure, particularly in water, transport and energy, that meets the needs of communities, including women, people with disabilities and marginalised groups.
The program builds on long-standing Australia-Indonesia cooperation in infrastructure and climate policy. It promotes locally led development, integrates gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI), and works with development finance and private sector partners to mobilise investment and support sustainable infrastructure systems across sectors including renewable energy, water, sanitation and waste management, and sustainable transport.
KINETIK is supported by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and implemented by DT Global.
About DT Global Asia Pacific
At DT Global Asia Pacific, we aim to positively impact people’s lives through delivery excellence. As a leading implementing partner across Asia and the Pacific, we co-create locally led solutions in partnership with governments, communities, and stakeholders. We bring together talented teams and deep regional expertise to deliver initiatives that promote inclusive economic growth, essential services, and resilient, secure communities. With over 1,500 staff, experts in 22+ countries and more than 60 years of development experience, we tackle complex community, national and transnational challenges — from governance and justice systems to climate resilience, infrastructure and social equity — with innovative thinking and a commitment to long-term impact.
The Role The Energy Lead is responsible for KINETIK’s energy portfolio. The role provides strategic oversight for the identification, development, and progression of energy opportunities that support climate-resilient development, sustainable infrastructure, and climate-aligned investment outcomes across the KINETIK portfolio. This will include supporting the deployment of RE, storage and related technologies into Indonesia’s electricity grid, as well as stimulating upkate of electrification and alternative fuels for key industry, transport and domestic use cases.
The Lead works closely with the Head of Climate Resilient Development to support implementation of KINETIK’s climate-resilient development activities, and with the Policy Unit, Financing and Transactions function to ensure energy opportunities support end-to-end sector engagement from policy through to financing and delivery. The role maintains a strong focus on sector strategy, project preparation, stakeholder engagement, institutional coordination, and strengthening enabling environments aligned with Government of Indonesia priorities and program delivery requirements.
The role engages with Government of Indonesia institutions, Australian Government agencies and partnerships, multilateral development banks (MDBs), development finance institutions (DFIs), government-to-government partnerships, development partners, state-owned enterprises, private sector actors, academic institutions, and other strategic stakeholders to support renewable energy sector development, investment mobilisation, policy engagement, and coordination activities relevant to climate-aligned infrastructure and sustainable energy priorities.
