THE OPPORTUNITY
The VP, Senior Relationship Manager, Business Banking develops and manages a portfolio of primarily business clients, ranging from complex credits to deposit-only relationships. The role grows revenue by prospecting for new business, retaining and expanding existing client relationships, providing financial advice, identifying appropriate banking solutions, structuring credit transactions, and monitoring portfolio quality, risk, and profitability. Performs all duties in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the Company operates.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Develop and manage a portfolio of primarily business clients, ranging from complex credits to deposit-only relationships.
Act as the lead negotiator with prospects and clients, including negotiating transactions, documenting and closing loan transactions, and ensuring conformance with Bank policy and regulatory requirements.
Grow revenue by successfully prospecting for new business and retaining and expanding existing client relationships through interest income, fee income, and cash management revenue.
Prepare a relationship plan and calling schedule for each client or prospect in conjunction with the strategic business development program.
Call on prospective clients to discuss and promote Bank products and services to establish total client banking relationships.
Provide financial advice to clients and identify and sell appropriate Bank products and services to prospects and clients.
Discuss financing opportunities and develop solutions to serve clients’ financial needs.
Develop centers of influence and organizational alliances to promote business growth.
Maintain a continuous prospecting, referral, and sales pipeline.
Build strong relationships with internal and external referral sources, identify business opportunities, and solicit referrals for other Bank products and services and external referrals from existing clients and other industry professionals.
Develop a strong understanding of each company, industry, business, and its needs to support client calling efforts.
Set objectives for each relationship based on cross-selling opportunities and revenue contribution.
Engage product specialists as necessary to solve problems or structure transactions.
Exercise sound credit and risk judgment when approving transactions.
Recommend approval of credits that meet the Bank’s credit standards.
Structure credits jointly with Loan Portfolio Managers and ensure the quality of all business introduced to the Bank.
Represent the Bank by actively participating in outside civic and community affairs, business and industry-related organizations, and other appropriate professional activities.
Work with other Bank departments, including branches within the assigned area, as necessary.
Define responsibilities and coordinate objectives for all product areas involved in a relationship or transaction.
Resolve client needs and internal issues.
Monitor and analyze relationship results and account activities, determine client profitability, and recommend accounts for further development or elimination.
Prepare reports for management.
Monitor the portfolio for quality, risk, and adherence to policy, and work with the appropriate staff departments to resolve issues.
Maintain awareness of competitive products, practices, rates, and changes in market conditions.
Analyze problem credits and meet with clients to develop solutions that minimize loss exposure.
Serve as a product specialist and technical consultant to clients and Relationship Managers in various business segments and geographic locations, as needed.
Use operational expertise to manage the workflow and specific needs of complex portfolio relationships and monitor and mitigate operational risk factors.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
Advanced skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation, mainframe computer systems, word processing, spreadsheets, and specialty software programs.
Intermediate knowledge of applicable state and federal banking compliance regulations governing lending, including fair lending, privacy, and RESPA, as well as the Company’s operational policies, procedures, products, and services.
Intermediate math skills, including calculating interest and percentages, balancing accounts, performing calculations using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, locating routine mathematical errors, and computing rates, ratios, and percentages.
Ability to draft and interpret bar graphs.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and communicate clearly with clients and employees.
Ability to make decisions that significantly impact the immediate work unit.
Ability to organize thoughts and ideas using understandable terminology.
Ability to organize and prioritize short-term and long-term work schedules.
Ability to address difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in nonstandard situations.
Ability to perform duties with little to no supervision.
