JOB DESCRIPTION
Streaming Line Producer
FOX Television Stations – FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 PLUS
The Opportunity
FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus is seeking a sharp, creative, and decisive Streaming Line Producer to lead compelling live coverage across linear television and digital streaming platforms. Reporting to the Executive Producer, you’ll shape rundowns as stories develop, make real-time editorial decisions, and help drive the future of local streaming news.

What You’ll Do
Lead live coverage and editorial execution. Write, stack, time, and line produce structured newscasts and continuous coverage for linear and streaming platforms; adjust rundowns as news develops; guide breaking-news coverage from the control room; manage multiple live elements; and direct anchors, reporters, field crews, and production teams.
Create streaming-first, multiplatform content. Develop live streams, explainers, interviews, and presentation elements for digital audiences and the station’s broader content strategy; write broadcast and digital copy; log, clip, and edit video; coordinate graphics; produce interviews and digital video packages; and repurpose content before, during, and after live broadcasts.
Grow reach through smart distribution and insights. Optimize and distribute video and live content across station digital products and YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram, tailoring presentation to each platform and its audience. Monitor real-time metrics, social feeds, and regional news trends to inform live coverage, story placement, follow-up content, and streaming priorities.
Collaborate across the newsroom. Partner with anchors, reporters, writers, digital producers, video editors, assignment teams, and production staff to deliver cohesive, accurate, high-quality journalism across platforms.
Use evolving newsroom technology. Work confidently with iNews, live streaming tools, control room automation, digital video editing and publishing tools, audience analytics platforms, Outlook, and Workday, while adapting as station technology evolves.
What You Bring
Experience. Two to four years as a news producer, line producer, or in a similar role in a medium-to-large broadcast newsroom; live streaming or digital-first news production experience is strongly preferred.
Editorial and live-production strength. Strong news judgment, AP-style writing, and demonstrated control-room leadership, with the ability to manage breaking news, multiple live elements, and intense deadlines. Working knowledge of broadcast law, FCC regulations, journalistic standards, and editorial best practices.
Multiplatform expertise. A strong understanding of multiplatform storytelling, social media strategy, digital video distribution, and audience engagement.
Technology fluency. Experience with linear rundown software, live streaming production tools, control room automation, digital video editing and publishing workflows, and audience analytics, plus the ability to learn evolving systems quickly.
Education and leadership. A bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience, along with clear professional communication, strong collaboration, sound decision-making, and the composure to lead effectively in fast-moving live-news situations.
