This position is designed for a high-performing auditor who is ready to take the next step toward management—someone who enjoys building client relationships, leading engagement teams, mentoring staff, and contributing to the growth of the practice.

You will serve as a trusted advisor to not-for-profit clients throughout the engagement lifecycle, gaining a deep understanding of their organizations, funding sources, compliance requirements, and strategic objectives. In addition to leading audit engagements, you will have opportunities to strengthen existing client relationships, identify additional service needs, participate in business development initiatives, and represent the firm within the not-for-profit community.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who combines strong technical expertise with strong communication skills, a client-focused mindset, and a desire to contribute to the continued growth and success of our Not-for-Profit practice.

Maintain steady contact with clients throughout the business year, which involves a thorough knowledge of the client and all facets of the client’s business rather than mere routine attendance to immediate problems
Prepare the engagement letter and any subsequent modifications for approval by a manager, answers any questions the client may have so there is a complete understanding of the nature and terms of an assignment, including an estimate of fees, and sees that the engagement letter is signed by the client and returned before the start of the engagement.
Review staff assignments, making certain they are appropriate; since this is a continuing duty, the supervisor must be fully familiar with the qualifications of all staff members.
Follow the progress of the work during an engagement in relation to budgeted time and scheduled dates of completion, spending as much time as possible with the client’s management group, periodically reviewing the working papers in the field as the job progresses.
Determines whether all phases of the engagement are being carried out properly and in the best sequence. Anticipates the problem areas and questions that might arise.
Keep the manager and above informed of all important developments in the work, analyzes the major problems that occur and recommends solutions.
Prepare staff performance evaluations and discuss them with staff members.
Supervise staff during fieldwork on audits, including directing and instructing staff, where applicable, in performing work and reviewing work papers and ensuring the audit work performed supports the audit opinion.
Coach staff, evaluating performance, providing on-the-job training, and counseling audit staff to strengthen knowledge/skills/development. Preparing personnel evaluation forms as required/requested.
Review the engagement against the budget plan and document and understand the cause for any material variances to plan as a result of conversations with team and overall knowledge of the engagement.
Actively seek opportunities to provide additional services to clients.
Develop network of referral sources through active involvement in professional and civic organizations.
As part of our compliance program, all team members are required to follow industry leading data and system security practices.
