About the Role:
Job Summary
The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) of Wound Care, in conjunction with the Wound Care Manager is responsible for the operational management of the Wound Care Program and WOC staff. In conjunction with the Wound Care Manager, the ANM directly supervises the inpatient and outpatient WOC staff and assists with the coordination of the Wound Care program for NGHS. In conjunction with the Manager, the ANM provides oversight of staff, monitoring and facilitating maintenance of staff qualification, and providing consultative review and recommendation on wound care management to the staff to ensure quality and individualized patient care. Also, in conjunction with the Manager, the ANM oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Wound Care program at all sites and ensures that the quality and safety standards are met and maintained. The ANM assists the WOC staff with day-to-day problem solving and facilitates communication between care team members, management and frontline staff. Provides wound care management for patients and collaborates with physicians, nursing staff and students, inpatients and families, outpatients and families, other medical disciplines, and the community at large. This provides both administrative oversight in conjunction with the Manager, as well as provides wound care for patients when needed. Employee performs clinical duties in accordance with population specific guidelines and adheres to wound care best practices as outlined in policy and procedures. The ANM assists in the advancement of the professional practice environment by communicating the NGHS nursing strategic direction and focusing on activities that support the nursing strategic direction. Provides nursing involvement support for Professional Nursing Governance and the CARE Collaborative. Assists with overall clinical governance and other projects as assigned.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Licensure or other certifications: Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia.
Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree. A degree in nursing (either BSN or MSN).
Minimum Experience: Three (3) years of direct care RN nursing experience with a minimum of one year of wound care experience.

Preferred Educational Requirements: A Masters Degree (Nursing or other if possessing a BSN) within five (5) years.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Coordinates activities of patient care team in the department and actively monitors the quality of care delivered.
Assesses, coaches and evaluates staff’s level of clinical practice. Ensures that nurses are current in competency, assessments, licensure, certifications, and other annual training. Actively works with his/her leadership team to coach staff, recommends and design education and training to meet the clinical needs of the patients/staff served by the department.
Routinely interacts with physician customers. Supports his/her nursing staff in maintaining effective and positive interactions with physicians. Coordinates communication between department team members and attending physicians, clinical staff, and ancillary staff to ensure appropriateness of care and outcome planning for the patients served by their department(s)/clinic(s).
Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees. Participates actively in the planning and distribution of patient assignments.
Maintains regular ongoing contact/communication with department team members. Responsible for working with Manager to identify employee strengths, development needs, skills, interpersonal and personal style and relate those to the business needs and challenges faced by the team.
Actively supports and promotes a professional practice model that encourages staff participation in the development of clinical standards, and is collaborative, collegial and utilizes best practice research.
Ensures compliance with established hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality controls and regulatory standards and requirements. Oversees completion of department specific administrative tasks.
Knowledgeable of organizational policies with respect to work rules and just culture and is responsible for providing progressive coaching and corrective action to employee when indicated.
Proactively addresses potential customer service issues.
Monitors staff performance/competency and provides feedback in timely manner.
Participates in the successful operations of the department and assists with developing and meeting the goals of the department.
Maintains effective written and verbal communication. Completes all required documentation in an appropriate and timely manner.
Participates in the successful and safe operations of the department(s)/clinic(s) and observes rules of conduct.
Maintains a commitment to education and personal growth and seeks educational opportunities to increase clinical competency.
Participates in patient care to provide appropriate wound care services, including assessing both inpatients and outpatients, accurately documents in patient's electronic health records and coordinates wound care plans for patients in the acute care setting and in the outpatient setting.
Collaborates and completes other projects as assigned.
