The Maintenance Mechanic 2 is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining general building systems and equipment to ensure uninterrupted facility operations. This includes managing preventive maintenance programs and responding to emergency service requests for plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
Candidates must have a high school diploma and either a relevant professional certification, a Miami Dade County license, or an associate degree. A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience and a valid Florida Driver's License are required.

The Maintenance Mechanic 2 inspects, repairs, installs, modifies, and maintains general building systems, and equipment to ensure that facility operations run smoothly and uninterrupted.
Ensures that all systems are fully operational and are inspected in accordance with accepted standards. Directs and supports technical support staff. Maintains current knowledge of all federal, state, and local safety and environmental laws and regulations, and ensures compliance. Develops and implements preventive maintenance and repair programs and procedures. Acts as a source of direction for the training and guidance of the less experienced staff. Responds to service requests, including but not limited to, hot calls, cold calls, and odor complaints. Inspects water and life safety systems and responds to all fire systems and emergency calls. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

High School diploma or equivalent
Certification in relevant specialty or field required or; valid license from Miami Dade County required or; Associates in relevant field required. Valid Florida Driver’s License.
