Do you love working with kids?
Healthy Kids Programs is hiring School Age Site Directors for our After School Programs in our Birmingham School District locations for the 2026–2027 school year.
About the Role
The Site Director is the heart of a Healthy Kids Programs location. You'll lead the daily operations of the site by creating a safe, engaging program that children love and families trust. You'll support and coach your team, build strong relationships with families and school partners, and ensure the program meets Healthy Kids Programs' quality standards and all licensing requirements. If you're an energetic, organized leader who enjoys making a positive impact in children's lives every day, this is the role for you.
Key Success Characteristics:
Loves working with children and helping them learn through play and positive experiences
Brings energy, kindness, and patience to each day
Enjoys encouraging children's curiosity, creativity, and confidence
Works well with teammates and communicates effectively with families
Reliable, organized, and committed to providing exceptional care
Featured Benefit: Employer-Paid Childcare
Healthy Kids Programs provides childcare for school-age children enrolled in our program on the days and during the hours you work. Employer contributions cover the cost of care, so you can focus on your job while your child participates in a safe, structured, and engaging program, all without needing to arrange outside care.
Who Thrives in This Role
This position is especially well-suited for:
Parents seeking a schedule that aligns with the school day
Education majors or future teachers looking for hands-on experience with children and classroom management
Retirees who enjoy staying active, mentoring children, and giving back to the community
If you enjoy building relationships, supporting student growth, and being part of a mission-driven team, you’ll feel right at home.
What Success Looks Like
Program Quality: Kids are engaged, safe, and having fun every day; the program reflects Healthy Kids Programs’ model and families consistently choose to re-enroll
Staffing: The site is fully staffed every day; teachers are prepared, supported, and showing up for the kids
Compliance: The site operates in ratio at all times; records are accurate and current; the program is ready for inspection on any given day
Inventory: The site is well-stocked with the supplies and materials teachers need; nothing runs out mid-week; restocking happens before it becomes a problem
Requirements
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or early childhood coursework preferred
1–3 years of experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or youth program setting
