Description
Reports To: Multi-Site Director, Area Director or Regional Director
Direct Reports: Lead Teachers, Assistant Teachers Territory: Birmingham, AL Status: Part-Time, Non-exempt
Schedule: Year-Round Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

Healthy Kids Programs provides childcare for school-age children enrolled in our program on the days and during the hours you work. Employer contributions cover the cost of care, so you can focus on your job while your child participates in a safe, structured, and engaging program, all without needing to arrange outside care.
About the Role
The Site Director is the heart of a Healthy Kids Programs location. They are responsible for what happens every day at their site — running a high-quality, engaging program that kids love and families trust, keeping the right staff in place and supported, operating safely and in full compliance with state requirements, and making sure the site has everything it needs to deliver a great experience. This is a role for someone who is energetic, organized, and passionate about making a real difference for kids every single day.
What Success Looks Like
Program Quality - Kids are engaged, safe, and having fun every day; the program reflects HKP’s model and families consistently choose to re-enroll
Staffing - The site is fully staffed every day; teachers are prepared, supported, and showing up for the kids
Compliance - The site operates in ratio at all times; records are accurate and current; the program is ready for inspection on any given day
Inventory - The site is well-stocked with the supplies and materials teachers need; nothing runs out mid-week; restocking happens before it becomes a problem
Key Responsibilities
1. Program Quality & Enrollment
Run a high-quality, engaging daily program that reflects HKP’s curriculum, values, and standards
Implement HKP’s 10 Healthy Ways to Engage with Students and daily programming materials consistently
Create a safe, welcoming, and fun environment where every child feels seen, included, and cared for
Communicate regularly with families; be responsive, warm, and proactive about what’s happening at the site
Support enrollment by delivering a program that families want to stay in and recommend to others
Participate in enrollment events and outreach as requested by your supervisor
Share program observations, family feedback, and any enrollment concerns with your Multi-Site Director
2. Staffing — Supporting & Leading Teachers
Supervise and support Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers in their daily work
Set clear expectations for staff conduct, program delivery, and professionalism; model the standard yourself
Conduct regular walkthroughs of your site to observe program quality and compliance; provide real-time coaching and feedback to teachers based on what you see
Communicate scheduling needs and coverage gaps to your Multi-Site Director proactively
Assist with onboarding new staff at your site; help them get up to speed quickly
Flag performance concerns or personnel issues to your supervisor promptly and document as appropriate
Build a team environment where staff feel supported, valued, and connected to the mission
Payroll, Labor & Scheduling Efficiency
Schedule staff to ratio — never over or under; right-sizing hours is both a compliance and a budget responsibility
Review and approve timecards accurately and on time; ensure hours reflect actual time worked
Monitor payroll costs against budget; flag anomalies and take corrective action when hours exceed plan
Build schedules with efficiency in mind — minimize unnecessary overtime and maximize coverage with the staff you have
Communicate schedule changes proactively; keep staff informed and document adjustments
Use HKP’s payroll and scheduling platforms (e.g., Paylocity) accurately and consistently
3. Compliance — Ratios & Site Safety
Maintain required staff-to-child ratios at all times; this is non-negotiable
Take daily attendance accurately; keep records complete, organized, and current
Ensure the program space is safe, clean, and meets all state licensing requirement
Verify that all staff working at your site have current required certifications (CPR, first aid, mandated reporter training, etc.)
Report any health, safety, or compliance concerns to your Multi-Site Director immediately
Be prepared for unannounced licensing inspections at any time; maintain inspection-ready standards every day
4. Inventory Management
Maintain an organized inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment at your sit
Track what you have and what you need; communicate restocking requests to your Multi-Site Director before you run out
Ensure teachers have the materials they need for daily programming — arts and crafts, activity supplies, academic support resources, and more
Keep the program space organized and materials properly stored at the end of each day
Flag any broken, damaged, or missing equipment to your supervisor promptly
Handle supplies responsibly and model good stewardship of site resources with your team
