The Ophthalmic Clinical Operations Manager will provide comprehensive operational leadership across clinical, administrative, and patient-access functions within Ophthalmology. The role integrates regulatory readiness, supply management, staff development, Epic optimization, patient access, workflow improvement, and multidisciplinary care coordination to ensure safe, efficient, compliant, and patient-centered operations across multiple practice locations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides lead oversight of the Ophthalmology hospital consult room to maintain Joint Commission readiness by proactively monitoring compliance, organization, safety, and regulatory standards.
Oversees clinical supply inventories and purchasing for the Ophthalmology Emergency Department resident consult room and multiple satellite locations, including Redwood and Waterloo, ensuring uninterrupted clinical operations and cost-effective inventory management.
Monitors operational processes to ensure compliance with departmental policies, regulatory requirements, and organizational standards.
Serves as the primary coordinator for FMLA, disability, and mobility-related documentation, ensuring timely completion, provider compliance, and continuity of patient care.
Partners closely with the FPI Patient Access Center (PAC) to improve scheduling accuracy by providing guidance on diagnosis-specific scheduling, telephone triage protocols, decision-tree workflows, and acute patient scheduling processes.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical management; ambulatory practice experience is required
