Vehicle Maintenance Technician
This is NOT your “Father's” Railway Company! Come join an industry leader using new technology for commuter rail services.
Denver Transit Operators, (DTO) is a privately held company that has a 29-year contract with RTD to operate and maintain the new commuter rail system within the Greater Denver Metro area.
What Will You Do?
The Vehicle Maintenance Technician is a multidisciplinary technician that performs mechanical, electro-mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and HVAC inspections and repairs on Denver Transit Operators fleet of 66 Commuter Railcars. Technicians are primarily responsible for the daily inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, modifications, and overhauls of the Electrical Multiple Unit (EMU) commuter railcars. This includes conducting detailed Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) inspections, diagnosing failed components as well as removing, repairing, and replacing parts and components as necessary, while using tools and equipment in a safe and professional manner. This is a safety sensitive position subject to the rules & regulations of the Federal Railroad Administration and their Drug & Alcohol policy.
Pay:
Our Repair Technicians can expect to earn an hourly wage between $35.26 - $41.34 depending on experience, education & training. Your performance & pay are reviewed and increases possible after successful completion of 6-months & 1-year of service and there after annually on your date of hire.
Training You Can Expect:
Our Repair Technicians play an important part in keeping our locomotives on the move. Almost every system on the locomotive is a complex electrical system. We will teach you the dynamic workings of our locomotives, and how to ensure they are running in peak condition. After this period, you will have the knowledge to be able to pass the Qualified Maintenance Person (QMP) evaluation.
Within your first few months as a Repair Technician, you will receive safety training and begin to expand your knowledge of locomotive electrical systems and other general railcar maintenance. Over the course of your first year, you will be provided with
training materials and manuals that allow you to learn at your own pace on specific electrical systems and other unique aspects of our state-of-the-art railcars. Those that demonstrate the initiative to read about and learn the advanced electrical and mechanical systems on their own, will be given opportunities to engage in paid hands on and classroom advanced training sessions.
