Benesch is a growing, multi-disciplined planning, engineering, and professional services firm. We enhance infrastructure and communities across the country – creating spaces and providing connections in ways that make a difference.
We pride ourselves on being nimble enough to remain responsive to client needs yet large enough to offer exceptional bench strength. As a member of our team, you’ll have an opportunity to draw from those resources when you need them and, likewise, contribute your expertise when you have something to share.
At Benesch, we are looking for candidates with varied backgrounds and worldviews. We are committed to offering an inclusive work environment where everyone feels valued and respected. Structural-Bridge Technical Manager
We have a career opportunity for a Structural-Bridge Engineer seeking to grow their career as a Technical Manager. As a Structural-Bridge Technical Manager, you will both self-perform and direct project teams in the planning and design of transportation structures projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to be viewed as a subject matter expert and provide technical advice to staff to ensure the successful execution of projects and help drive the growth of the NC Structural group.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing various structural-bridge projects, ensuring the development of high-quality engineering documents. Previous experience mentoring and directing staff in technical skills is highly desired.
Location
This position will have a hybrid work schedule and, when in the office, will work from our Cary office a minimum of 3 times a week.
The Impact You Will Have
Mentor and direct the advancement of the technical skills of staff while executing projects
Manage technical elements of a project, including assessing what analyses need to be completed and what is the most practical approach (i.e. software, design assumptions, etc.) for that analysis
Perform, review, and manage technical analysis and design. Take responsibility for the completeness of design details
Communicate technical progress and issues to Project Manager promptly and continuously
Adhere to all internal procedures for quality control, documentation, and project tracking
Contribute to other project work as a technical specialist or advisor
Provide input into the growth of the practice
Work toward being a leading subject matter expert on targeted elements within the discipline
What We Are Looking For
B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural) required
PE License in NC required
A minimum of 10 years' experience in structural engineering with a transportation focus
Advanced knowledge of software appropriate for discipline, showing proficiency in most programs specific to this role/discipline
Advanced knowledge of applicable codes and standards that govern discipline
Experience in MicroStation is required; experience in 3D bridge modeling is highly desirable
Experience with Construction Engineering services is highly desirable
