The ideal candidate has experience managing the financial operations of multiple locations and possesses a deep understanding of route profitability, municipal and franchise agreements, fleet operations, disposal costs, capital planning, pricing strategies, acquisitions, and operational performance metrics unique to the waste industry.
If you've served as a Regional Controller, Area Controller, Division Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Finance Leader within the waste industry, we'd like to hear from you.
Why Waste Pro?
Waste Pro is one of the nation's fastest-growing privately owned waste and recycling companies, providing essential environmental services to communities throughout the Southeast. Our continued growth has been built on a commitment to safety, exceptional customer service, innovation, operational excellence, and investing in our people. At Waste Pro, we believe our employees are our greatest asset. We promote from within whenever possible and empower our leaders to make meaningful business decisions that have a direct impact on the success of the company. As a Regional Controller, you will work alongside executive leadership and operations teams to influence strategy, improve profitability, support acquisitions, and help shape the future of our growing organization. When you join Waste Pro, you're not just taking another finance position, you'll become a trusted business partner with the opportunity to make a measurable impact while building a long-term career with an industry leader.
What You'll Do
As the Regional Controller of the SE Florida Region, you will serve as the primary financial business partner to the Regional Vice President, Division Managers, and Corporate Leadership. You will provide financial insight that helps drive operational excellence and improve the overall financial performance of the region.
Responsibilities include:
Lead the monthly financial close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, and management reporting.
Analyze operating performance, profitability, productivity, labor costs, disposal expenses, fleet costs, and key financial metrics across multiple divisions.
Partner with operational leadership to improve margins, reduce costs, maximize EBITDA, and identify opportunities for increased profitability.
Develop and manage annual operating budgets, capital budgets, and financial forecasts.
Monitor financial trends, variances, cash flow, return on investment, and operating performance.
Review customer profitability, pricing strategies, franchise fees, municipal contracts, and revenue opportunities.
Support capital expenditure planning and fixed asset management.
Oversee regional accounting activities, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Fixed Assets, and financial reporting.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, corporate policies, internal controls, and regulatory reporting requirements.
Prepare executive-level financial presentations and performance reporting.
Provide financial support for mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence, financial modeling, pro forma development, and post-acquisition integration.
Develop financial reporting tools that provide meaningful operational insight.
Lead, mentor, and develop regional accounting personnel while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen internal controls, and enhance operational efficiency.
