About the Program
The Cancer portfolio aims to strengthen India's response to the growing burden of lung cancer by supporting governments to design, implement and scale sustainable models of prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.
The portfolio currently supports programs across common cancers (breast, cervical, oral and lung cancers) and strengthens care provision across the continuum from generating awareness, screening, diagnostics to patient management. The program works closely with national and state governments, development partners, academia, professional bodies and the private sector to develop scalable models that contribute towards India's National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NP-NCD).
About the Position
Program Officer will be based in Odisha and Jharkhand to support the day-to-day implementation and coordination of project activities across the demonstration districts. The initiative seeks to strengthen early detection, improve access to quality diagnosis and treatment, reduce lung cancer-related morbidity and mortality among occupationally exposed workers and surrounding communities, and generate evidence to inform policy integration within India's National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NP-NCD).
The Program Officer will be responsible for coordinating field-level implementation in close collaboration with state and district health authorities, health facilities, community health workers, technical partners, and other key stakeholders. The position will ensure timely execution of project activities, facilitate capacity-building initiatives, monitor implementation progress, support data collection and reporting, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and contribute to documentation of implementation learnings.
Responsibilities
Interact with national and state teams and support in implementation of project activities as per agreed work plan and timelines.
Work closely with the state and district Govt and NHM officials for advocacy, governance, review and dissemination of project activities.
Ensure timely execution project activities including training, on-site coaching, workshop planning, reporting, logistics planning and management to ensure smooth project implementation.
Prepare and share Monthly progress report and work plans to the supervisor.
Support in development and submission of reports and presentations for Govt. stakeholders and donors.
Work with project teams to undertake process and program documentation, covering all aspects of project implementation and management at program field locations.
Support the development of evaluation/research tools and research protocols with support of supervisors, concerned program staff/external evaluators.
Support in the analysis of program data collected and ensure that documents are appropriately prepared for periodic data audit.
Work with the program teams, facilities and government counterparts to implement, monitor and report on training activities including M&E frameworks and reports.
Perform other activities, as assigned by the supervisor to achieve organizational goals
Required Qualifications
MBBS/BAMS/BDS/Nursing graduates preferably master’s in public health, policy, health management or a related field.
1-3 years of relevant professional experience of working with national and international health programs/ organizations especially in the field of public health, especially in cancer program or NP NCD program
Understanding of Global Health and development approaches with willingness to learn the technical side of program implementation.
