Full job description

Overview

Jhpiego is an international, non-profit health organization and an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, dedicated to improving the health of women and families in developing countries. For over 50 years, it has focused on providing high-quality, low-cost health care solutions, training health workers, and strengthening health systems.

Jhpiego has been working in India since the 1980s in close partnership with national and state governments. With deep technical expertise and strong on-the-ground execution, Jhpiego helps design, test, and scale practical solutions and innovations that fit real-world systems across 11 thematic domains (Maternal and Newborn Health, Reproductive Health, Nutrition, Immunization, Comprehensive Primary Health Care, Human Resources for Health, TB and Infectious Diseases, Global Health Security, Women's Cancers, Non-Communicable Diseases, Digital Health).

Manyata is a nationally recognized quality‑of‑care initiative of FOGSI that works with private maternity facilities to improve maternal and newborn outcomes through evidence‑based clinical standards, continuous quality improvement, and strong clinical governance. Implemented in partnership with professional associations and aligned with national accreditation systems, Manyata goes beyond certification to embed routine audits, mentoring, and data‑driven practice change within facilities—supporting safer, more respectful, and sustainable maternal health care at scale.

The Sr Program Coordinator – Manyata will support day-to-day program operations in Odisha, ensuring smooth coordination across facilities, professional associations, mentors, assessors, and internal teams. The role will focus on operational planning, field coordination, data tracking, and reporting, contributing to effective scale-up and sustained quality improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Program Operations & Coordination
    • Support implementation of Manyata activities across assigned districts/facilities in Odisha
    • Coordinate facility onboarding, orientation, assessments, mentorship visits, and certification processes
    • Maintain regular communication with participating private maternity facilities
    • Coordinate with FOGSI state/district leadership, mentors, and assessors for smooth scheduling and follow-up
    • Mobilise facilities and drive saturation efforts in Bhubaneswar under the quality city initiative
  • Field Support & Monitoring
    • Support organization of trainings, mentorship visits, review meetings, and quality improvement activities
    • Track facility-wise progress against Manyata milestones (enrolment, assessment, gap closure, certification, recertification)
    • Conduct routine field visits to support implementation and document challenges, best practices, and learnings
  • Data Management & Reporting
    • Maintain accurate program records and trackers (facility database, training lists, assessment status, certification outcomes)
    • Support data entry and validation in program MIS / digital platforms
    • Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc reports for internal review, donors, and partners
    • Support basic data analysis and visualization for performance monitoring
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Support coordination with government counterparts where required
    • Facilitate alignment of Manyata activities with state priorities
    • Assist in organizing stakeholder meetings, review workshops, and dissemination events
  • Administrative & Logistical Support
    • Support logistics for trainings, meetings, travel, and events
    • Assist with documentation, MoMs, presentations, and communication materials
    • Ensure timely follow-up on action points from reviews and meetings

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in public health, Health Management, Social Sciences, Life Sciences, or related field
    • 8-10 years of experience in public health programs, preferably maternal and newborn health or quality improvement
    • Experience working with health facilities, professional associations especially FOGSI, or government health systems
    • Prior exposure to quality improvement, accreditation, or certification programs (NABH, LaQshya, Manyata, SafeCare, NQAS etc.) is an advantage
    •

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Strong coordination and organizational skills
    • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and field activities simultaneously
    • Good documentation, reporting, and data management skills
    • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and basic digital tools
    • Willingness to travel extensively within Odisha
    • Strong communication skills in English and Oriya
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team

    Desirable Attributes

    • Understanding of private sector maternity care landscape in Odisha
    • Familiarity with maternal health quality standards and clinical governance concepts
    • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
    • Comfort working in fast-paced, multi-partner program environments

Jhpiego is a nonprofit global leader in the creation and delivery of transformative health care solutions for the developing world. In partnership with national governments, health experts and local communities, we build health providers’ skills, and develop systems that save lives now and guarantee healthier futures for women and their families. Our aim is revolutionizing health care for the planet’s most disadvantaged people. Jhpiego, a Johns Hopkins University Affiliate, translates decades of program experience and in-depth technical knowledge into moments of care that can mean the difference between life and death for women and families. The moment a woman gives birth; the moment a midwife helps a newborn to breath; the moment a nurse screens for cervical cancer with a simple vinegar swab; the moment a community health worker tests a man for HIV and reports he is HIV free. By embedding the know-how and skills into everyday practice, we are able to increase access to quality health services and create a healthier future for generations to come. Access to lifesaving health care for all people, whoever they are, wherever they live, that’s our mission. Jhpiego saves lives, improves health, transforms futures.
