A Brief Overview
The Assistant Administrator - LTC is a position that supports the Administrator in the daily operations, staffing, regulatory compliance, quality outcomes, resident and family relations, financial performance, and administrative functions of a long-term care facility. This position may spend time in multiple facilities or regions to gain varied operational exposure, work with other Administrators and facility leaders, and support organizational succession planning. The role provides leadership consistent with Avera's mission, values, strategic goals, and commitment to safe, high-quality, resident-centered care. This position may travel to and work within multiple facilities or regions, as assigned.
What you will do
Assists with day-to-day long term care operations to ensure safe, efficient, resident-centered services in compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
Supports the Administrator and facility leadership in developing and implementing operational strategies, goals, staffing plans, and performance expectations.
Coordinates and supports department managers and service areas, including nursing, dietary, housekeeping, maintenance, activities, therapy, social services, and administrative support.
Monitors compliance with CMS, state, federal, licensure, and organizational requirements, including survey readiness, audits, inspections, complaint investigations, and corrective action plans.
Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement activities, including monitoring quality measures, resident outcomes, incident trends, customer satisfaction, and operational metrics.
Responds to resident, family, employee, and operational concerns with professionalism, empathy, confidentiality, sound judgment, and timely follow-up.
Participates in staffing, recruitment, onboarding, employee coaching, performance management, employee relations, retention efforts, and leadership meetings.
Completes administrative responsibilities, including reports, documentation, budget support, policy implementation, correspondence, meeting preparation, regulatory documentation, and operational planning.
Provides direct supervision to assigned positions, which may include Social Worker, Activities, and Administrative Coordinator, with responsibility for assigning work, coaching, developing staff, evaluating performance, and addressing concerns.
Communicates effectively with residents, families, employees, department leaders, regional leadership, human resources, finance, billing/CBO, regulatory agencies, physicians, hospitals, pharmacies, and community partners; may support multiple facilities or regions as assigned.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
Associate's in Business, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Long-Term Care Administration, or related field. Minimum of Bachelor's degree may be required based on state of practice.
Nursing Home Administrator - Licensing Board Current Nursing Home Administrator license active in state of practice or ability to obtain licensure with the required timeframe through the applicable state licensing board process. within 2 Years
Minimum of one year long-term care, skilled nursing, nursing facilitated or related healthcare experience.
Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
Previous leadership experience in a long-term care or a related healthcare program, including operations, finance, staffing, quality improvement, or regulatory compliance.
Knowledge of long-term care operations, CMS and state regulatory expectations, survey readiness, QAPI, residents rights, budgeting, and service recovery.
