The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Office of Student Success, Leadership, and Engagement within the Division of Student Affairs has an exciting opportunity for a UMB Pantry Specialist or UMB Pantry Senior Specialist (Program Specialist or Program Senior Specialist). The UMB Pantry Specialist or UMB Pantry Senior Specialist will contribute to an ecosystem that removes barriers to academic and professional success by integrating basic needs support, community resource navigation, and evidence-based programming into a seamless continuum of care. The position will be filled commensurate with the candidate's qualifications. 

The selected candidate will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining internal and external relationships that contribute to programming and offerings that align with promoting success for UMB students and employees utilizing the UMB Pantry. The UMB Pantry Specialist or UMB Pantry Senior Specialist will co-manage the daily operations of the UMB Pantry, while supporting the Student Success Center and Office of Student Success, Leadership, and Engagement leadership to ensure that the food access program, service delivery model, and programming offerings align with the goals of the Student Success Center and the expressed needs of the UMB student, faculty, staff, and post-doctoral fellow population. The selected candidate will provide direct support to UMB Pantry patrons, as well as wraparound services that include connection to internal and external resources, social engagement, and robust programming.

The Office of Student Success, Leadership, and Engagement (SSLE) provides programs, initiatives, and services that contribute to the comprehensive and vibrant experiences of UMB students as well as the university community. SSLE supports all students and University-wide student organizations through interprofessional leadership and learning opportunities, assists the UMB community experiencing food insecurity, connects students to civic and community engagement experiences, and provides students with opportunities to build and sustain community and develop skills towards culturally responsive professional practices.

Primary Duties - UMB Pantry Specialist

• Work as part of a team to oversee daily operations; organize program activities aligned with the complex needs of our student population, with employees as a secondary audience; set priorities for the UMB Pantry; and expand pantry offerings to staff, faculty, and post-doctoral fellows. Manage and maintain accurate inventory records by regularly tracking stock levels and fulfilling pantry orders in a timely manner to ensure items are properly stored and readily accessible.
• Leverage online ordering platforms and smart locker technology to coordinate, track, and fulfill pantry orders, ensuring efficient and accurate retrieval for patrons.
• Collaborate with departments/areas within UMB Student Affairs, schools/academic programs, central administration, and other partners to establish and track metrics associated with key performance indicators (KPIs) and utilize tools (e.g., Analytics, Tableau, custom dashboards) to monitor patron engagement, satisfaction, and other outcome.
• Utilize technology and sophisticated searching techniques to conduct in depth research and apply evidence-based practices to independently develop and introduce robust in-person and online (synchronous and asynchronous) educational programming aligned with the complex needs of our student population, with employees as a secondary audience that provides basic needs support and actively works towards skill enhancement and the removal of barriers negatively impacting success outcomes.
• Develop and execute an engagement plan for identifying, securing, managing, and reporting on grant and fundraising opportunities that assist the UMB Pantry in meeting its operational objectives. Identify funding limitations and proactively explore solutions for addressing gaps. Produce and maintain program and budget data to ensure compliance with all funders, institutional, local, state, and federal requirements.
• Prepare and analyze budget and allocate and track resources accordingly. Collect, complete, and submit program information in required formats for various reporting including internal program updates and sponsor reports.
• Interact and maintain relationships with internal and external partners and collaborators to create a network of resources to support the various food access initiatives. Assist in the identification, cataloging, and dissemination of resources to UMB Pantry patrons. Work closely with partners to develop and provide appropriate trainings, workshops, and community opportunities for participants.
• Collaborate with the Office of Philanthropy to design and implement initiatives that inspire a culture of giving and generosity among students, alumni, employees, community partners, and new donors to encourage financial contributions and in-kind donations to support and advance our goals.
• Assist in the development and implementation of projects, including training materials, website content, progress reports, commendations, and other resources related to student and employee success.
• Assist in the development and implementation of robust marketing, promotion, and communication plans for programs, initiatives, services, and resources. Collaborate with Division and University communications teams to ensure materials comply with brand standards and intended outcomes.
• Utilize student engagement portal (UMBengaged) and university platforms such as Campus Life Weekly, the Elm, and Elm weekly to promote programs and create pathways for program management.
• Assist in evaluating program effectiveness utilizing qualitative and quantitative approaches to develop improved methods; devise and administer evaluation tools; analyze and present results and implement data-informed recommendations and/or take appropriate action. Independently formulate, affect, interpret, and implement policies or procedures to ensure effective operation of the program.
• Maintain compliance with all occupational health and safety requirements, including from the University, Maryland Food Bank, and City of Baltimore.
• Assist with general administrative tasks and perform other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor's degree. Degree in higher education or social sciences, such as social work or psychology preferred. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: Two (2) years administrative or program coordination experience. Experience in community program, pantry, or student support coordination, development, oversight, or administration preferred.
Other: Related experience to program may be substituted for education. 

UMB Pantry Senior Specialist
Education: Bachelor's degree. Degree in higher education or social sciences, such as social work or psychology preferred. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: Three (3) years administrative or program coordination experience. Experience in community program, pantry, or student support coordination, development, oversight, or administration preferred.
Supervisory Experience: One (1) year in work coordination, training, and daily oversight of staff, students, or volunteers preferred.
Other: Related experience to program may be substituted for education.

Hiring Range Specialist: $61,000 - $70,000, Commensurate with education and experience. 

Hiring Range Senior Specialist: $80,000 - $84,000, Commensurate with education and experience.
