Location: Our offices are located in Norfolk and Newport News, Virginia. Candidates must reside within the Hampton Roads area and be willing to work onsite and travel to client locations as needed.
Since 1995 The James Barry Robinson Institute's (JBRI) non-profit foster care program has provided positive homes for youth with behavioral and emotional challenges. At JBRI, Case Workers are the bridge to brighter futures!
Our Foster Care program provides treatment, training, and supportive homes for children throughout Hampton Roads, Virginia. We are committed to placing children in stable, loving homes and carefully matching each child with a foster family that best meets their needs.
As a Foster Care Case Worker you would provide case management services to children in our Foster Care program. These services include treatment and service planning, monitoring and oversight to ensure that children receive safe, appropriate and structured care as well as coordination of services for the child. Furthermore, as a member of our Foster Care team you would help to provide an exceptional service to all parties involved as well as act as a liaison with providers such as the juvenile and domestic relations courts, schools, families and other applicable agencies.
Bachelors in human services or related field (including but not limited to sociology, psychology, special education, or counseling) A minimum of two years experience in providing casework services to children and families Previous Foster Care Case Worker experience is highly preferred Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with others Knowledge of growth and development in children, adolescents, and developmentally disabled youth. A commitment to quality and excellent customer service Valid driver's license
Duties
Responsible to serve as resource person and provide counsel to children and families during all aspects from placement and discharge Establishes and maintains professional and supportive relationships with youth, resource families, birth families, referring personnel, and providers Regularly meets with youth/families to conduct visits/sessions to ensure safety and welfare of the child as well as provide on-going case management services and skill development. Maintain proper documentation of cases, notes, and/or records in accordance to the treatment plan and organizational policies Support foster parents and children to help ensure quality outcomes and safety
