The Emergency Technician assists physicians and nurses in delivering patient care, including performing invasive and non-invasive procedures such as EKGs, IVs, and phlebotomy. They are also responsible for maintaining accurate clinical documentation and responding to emergency situations within the department.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED and hold a valid NREMT certification as a Paramedic, Advanced EMT, or Intermediate EMT. Additionally, a current CPR/BLS certification is required upon hire.
Overview
Works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, Charge Nurse, and the medical direction of the Emergency Department Physician. Is responsible for providing assistance to physicians and RNs in the delivery of patient care to include invasive and non-invasive procedures: EKG's, IVs, phlebotomy. Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient served in assigned department. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Collects data reflective of the patient's status and assist with the interpretation of appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age specific needs as described in the departmental policy and procedural guide. Emergency Technician will fill in as the monitor tech as needed.
