Provide consultative outpatient psychiatric services to individuals with complex mental health and social needs within an interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities include managing Mental Health Act forms, collaborating with primary care providers, and supporting quality improvement initiatives.
Must be a member in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and be familiar with the Alberta Mental Health Act. Requires a vulnerable sector criminal record clearance and proficiency with medical IT systems like Netcare and EMR.
What We Do
Since 1973, The Alex has been a community-based, not-for-profit organization providing integrated primary health care, community support services, and housing-focused programs to individuals and families who experience barriers to accessing traditional health, housing, and social service systems. Services are grounded in principles of health equity, low-barrier access, trauma-informed practice, cultural safety, harm reduction, and person-centered care.
The Community Health Clinic provides team-based primary health care and integrated social supports for individuals and families of all ages experiencing barriers to accessing traditional services, with a focus on comprehensive wraparound care that addresses medical, mental health, and social needs.
Psychiatrists at The Alex Community Health Clinic provide appointment-based psychiatric services in a non-judgmental, holistic, and opportunistic manner. Working alongside interdisciplinary team members and primary care physicians, psychiatrists provide consultative psychiatric care with a trauma-informed and harm reduction perspective.
