The Refuge, A Healing Place, is a premier residential treatment center dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care for adults facing mental health challenges, trauma, substance use disorders, eating disorders, and co-occurring conditions. Our multidisciplinary team is committed to helping patients achieve lasting healing and recovery in a supportive, therapeutic environment.
We are seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist to join our clinical team. This is an excellent opportunity to provide meaningful psychiatric care in a residential setting while collaborating with experienced behavioral health professionals.
Compensation
1099 Independent Contractor (Preferred)
Competitive compensation (based on experience)
Call Pay: $100 per day
No sign-on bonus or relocation assistance
Schedule
40 hours per week
Flexible scheduling
Approximately 8 patients per day
Average caseload of 20 patients
Call: 2 days per week

Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation using BestNotes electronic medical records.
Participate in on-call coverage two days per week.

Summary:
Responsible for providing clinical services to patients at the facility.
Practice within medical protocols defined by federal and state regulations, as well as by corporate, facility policy or procedures.
Review medical information on patients to ensure medical stability and to offer medical recommendations.
Evaluate patients for mental, emotional or behavioral disorders.
Treat or direct treatment of patients, utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications.
Review and complete medical information for individual care plans, documents services and information in a timely manner.
Maintain confidential documentation, compliance and billing in accordance with the policy and procedures.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD or DO) required.
One or more years’ post graduate degree practice preferred.
Licensed in the state in which the facility(s) operate.
Licenses/Certifications:
Board certification in psychiatry
Current DEA credentials to prescribe controlled substances without restrictions and per regulation within the state in which the practitioner will be working.

The Refuge, a Healing Place is an addiction treatment program that specializes in PTSD, Trauma, Substance Abuse and Process Addictions located in central Florida. When The Refuge opened it was one of the few addiction treatment programs that specialized in PTSD/Trauma, process addictions and substance abuse. The Refuge allowed clients that were not only suffering from substance abuse and trauma/PTSD to admit, but also the clients that were struggling with staying sober because of underlying issues.
The Refuge – A Healing Place provides residential care for men and women age 18 and older struggling with PTSD and trauma, addiction, mental health concerns, and eating disorders. Using a nature-based setting, The Refuge helps individuals process trauma stored in the nervous system, reducing reliance on maladaptive coping mechanisms such as substance abuse or process addictions. Understanding that each person’s path to recovery is unique, The Refuge offers a variety of holistic, trauma-focused programming designed to heal the mind, body, and spirit.
