Job Summary
Provide technical and process assistance to the Manufacturing department and serve as the site's primary quality resource. Interface between Research and Development and Manufacturing representatives to improve efficiencies in the manufacturing process. Lead technical projects aimed at product development or product improvement. Working safely is part of our culture and is a condition of employment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as the plant's primary quality representative by managing site quality activities, championing quality initiatives, and representing the Quality Department in cross-functional meetings.
Partner with plant and corporate leadership to develop and implement practices and procedures that promote product, manufacturing process, and business system quality.
Track and report key plant quality metrics and develop plans to drive continuous improvement.
Monitor trends in product and process quality
Coordinate plant quality training activities and conduct or facilitate quality auditing activities at the plant level.
Serve as the plant liaison with Corporate Quality, Research and Development, Purchasing, Operations, and Process Development to support the resolution of quality-related issues.
Communicate supplier-related issues to the Corporate Supplier Quality Manager
Investigate and respond promptly to product quality issues, implementing corrective actions as appropriate.
Maintain and update product specifications and performance properties for research purposes.
Conduct quality control checks of new scaleup batches or initial batches of new products and troubleshoot problems as needed.
Evaluate new materials and communicate findings and recommendations to Operations, Research and Development, suppliers, and other internal stakeholders.
Train production personnel in process systems and provide laboratory support to all facilities.
Train production personnel on quality and process systems and provide laboratory support to plant operations as needed.
Analyze current process systems, recommend and assist in the implementation of process improvements, and write procedures.
Complete assignments as part of process improvement projects.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or a related technical field or equivalent work experience
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in elated technical environments.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Ability to communicate technical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Ability to work independently as the site's primary quality resource.
Capability and knowledge of simple problem solving
Knowledge of MS Office Suites and/or software related to job functions (manufacturing operations and integrated purchasing software)
Proficiency with basic precision measuring instruments (e.g. calipers, micrometers, gauges, force/tension testers) to evaluate product performance and dimensions
Ability to analyze data and work independently
Ability to plan, organize and complete work as scheduled
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to conduct continuous improvement activities
Ability to stand, walk, and navigate a manufacturing plant environment for extended periods during a shift. Must be able to lift 30 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
