ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD.
At AMD, we believe technology has the power to solve the world’s most important challenges. From advancing healthcare and scientific discovery to powering AI and the technologies people rely on every day, innovation at AMD is shaping the future.
Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or bringing leading edge products to market, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward. Join us and, together, we’ll advance your career.
THE ROLE:
AMD is seeking a Director, Corporate Strategy & Partnerships to help define and shape the company’s long-term strategic direction across some of the most dynamic segments in technology. Based in Santa Clara, CA and reporting to the Head of Corporate Strategy & Partnerships, this leader will work at the intersection of technology, strategy, partnerships, and investment evaluation.
In this highly visible role, you will partner closely with executive leadership, the CTO Office, engineering organizations, and business units to assess market opportunities, evaluate competitive dynamics, guide strategic planning efforts, and identify opportunities for growth through partnerships, investments, and emerging technologies. You will help AMD anticipate where the market is heading and ensure the company’s technology, product, and business strategies remain aligned to maximize long-term value creation.
This position offers the opportunity to influence executive decision-making, work directly with senior leaders across AMD, engage with cutting-edge technologies shaping the future of AI and accelerated computing, and help drive initiatives that impact the company’s strategic and commercial success.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong blend of technical acumen, business insight, and executive presence. You are equally comfortable discussing semiconductor architectures and product roadmaps with engineering leaders as you are presenting strategic recommendations to senior executives.
You possess exceptional analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to synthesize complex technical, market, and financial information into clear, actionable recommendations. You thrive in ambiguous environments, influence across organizations, and are passionate about identifying new opportunities that strengthen AMD’s competitive position in rapidly evolving markets.
You are collaborative, results-oriented, and able to build trusted relationships with stakeholders across engineering, finance, product management, corporate development, venture investing, and executive leadership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Partner with the CTO Office, engineering, and business leaders to evaluate AMD’s competitive position and assess product roadmaps against emerging technology and market trends.
Develop strategic recommendations that address competitive, business, and technology gaps across CPUs, GPUs, AI accelerators, networking, and adjacent markets.
Analyze market, technical, financial, and customer data to generate insights that support executive decision-making and strategic planning.
Drive strategic assessments of emerging industry trends and recommend actions that strengthen AMD’s long-term market position.
Identify new growth opportunities, evaluate market adjacencies, and develop market-entry strategies in partnership with business and commercial teams.
Conduct competitive intelligence analyses and benchmark AMD’s technology position relative to industry competitors.
Lead strategic research initiatives and facilitate executive discussions on competitive dynamics, disruptive technologies, and emerging opportunities.
Evaluate startup ecosystems, technology partnerships, and investment opportunities in collaboration with AMD’s venture and innovation teams.
Support annual long-range planning activities, including market sizing, TAM development, business transformation initiatives, and strategic growth planning.
Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations, business cases, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
Lead and support partnership, investment, corporate development, and M&A-related activities, including opportunity identification, evaluation, diligence, alignment, and integration planning.
Collaborate across functions to ensure engineering investments and strategic initiatives align with AMD’s long-term corporate objectives.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Experience developing and executing corporate strategy initiatives within the semiconductor, technology, computing, AI, cloud, or adjacent industries.
Strong technical foundation with the ability to engage credibly on technology architectures, product roadmaps, and engineering investment priorities.
