Full job description
Position Overview
The SCM Business Operations Manager is a highly strategic and high-impact role designed to operate as the Chief of Staff and trusted advisor to the Head of Global Supply Chain Management. As a Senior Manager, you will be the connective tissue for the global SCM leadership team, driving strategic alignment, operational excellence, and swift execution across the organization.
You will act as the "horizon leader"—the primary point of contact and designated commander for all major supply chain crises, high-level escalations, and critical task force deployments. This role requires a unique blend of strategic vision, executive presence, and roll-up-your-sleeves crisis management to ensure our global supply chain remains resilient, agile, and aligned with broader corporate objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Operations & Chief of Staff Duties
Executive Partnership: Act as the strategic right-hand to the Head of Global SCM, amplifying their reach and ensuring strategic priorities are executed effectively across the global organization.
Business Rhythm Management: Design and orchestrate the SCM leadership’s rhythm of business, including strategic planning, QBRs (Quarterly Business Reviews), and operational reviews.
Cross-Functional Alignment: Serve as the primary liaison between Global SCM and other key executive stakeholders (Sales, Manufacturing, Finance, and R&D) to ensure seamless alignment of goals.
Executive Reporting: Synthesize complex supply chain data into clear, actionable insights and executive briefings for the C-suite and Board of Directors.
Crisis Management & Escalation Resolution
Horizon Leadership: Serve as the central command and key decision-maker for all major, global SCM crises (e.g., geopolitical disruptions, critical supplier failures, natural disasters).
Escalation Management: Own and resolve high-visibility escalations, removing roadblocks and mobilizing necessary resources to protect revenue, customer satisfaction, and brand reputation.
Risk Mitigation: Proactively scan the macroeconomic and supply chain "horizon" to identify potential risks and develop robust contingency and business continuity plans.
Task Force Leadership & Strategic Initiatives
Task Force Assembly: Rapidly build, deploy, and lead cross-functional task forces to address urgent business needs, sudden market shifts, or critical supply chain transformations.
Project Delivery: Drive high-priority strategic initiatives from ideation through execution, ensuring milestones are met on time and within budget.
Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate business operations to identify inefficiencies, implementing scalable solutions that elevate the overall performance of the SCM organization.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in Supply Chain Management, Business Operations, Strategy, or Management Consulting. Minimum 3+ years in a leadership or senior managerial capacity.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is highly preferred.
Crisis Leadership: Proven track record of successfully navigating and managing complex, high-stakes supply chain disruptions or global business crises.
Executive Presence: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and build consensus among C-level executives and global leaders.
Strategic Agility: Ability to zoom out to see the big strategic picture, and zoom in to untangle complex, tactical operational issues.
Analytical Acumen: Strong data-driven decision-making skills with the ability to cut through noise and identify root causes swiftly.
Who You Are
A Calming Force: You maintain composure and provide clear direction in highly ambiguous and high-pressure situations.
A Bridge Builder: You naturally break down silos and build strong, collaborative relationships across all levels of an organization.
A Bias for Action: You do not wait to be told what to do; you anticipate needs, assemble the right minds, and drive solutions.
