The Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Women’s Health (Dunedin) is one of three departments of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Otago’s Faculty of Medicine, working alongside our counterparts in Christchurch and Wellington. We are guided by Te Tiriti o Waitangi and dedicated to improving health outcomes in Aotearoa.
We are committed to excellence in teaching and research in an environment that fosters personal development and respect and stimulates advances in knowledge and the provision of outstanding health care of women, youth and their families / whānau.
Te mahi | The role
In this Dunedin based role, we are seeking a qualified professional to provide academic leadership and coordination of the University of Otago's postgraduate Obstetrics and Gynaecology programme.
While supporting postgraduate education, you will also contribute to ensuring a coherent, high-quality programme meets the needs of learners, the profession and the health sector.

Successful candidates will have: • A healthcare professional qualification. • Experience in women's health. • Proven aptitude for effective teaching at tertiary level. • Must be able to take initiative and work independently but being always mindful of goals of the Department and the core values of the University. • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work positively and productively with obstetrics and gynaecology patients and their whānau. • Be culturally competent and have an understanding of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to equity within medical education and the wider health system. • Evidence of an ability to work well with students and staff from differing academic and cultural backgrounds at all levels of the institution. • Experience in leading or coordinating postgraduate health professional education programmes. • Experience working collaboratively across multiple academic or clinical sites. • Understanding of quality assurance and programme review processes within tertiary education.

This is a part-time (0.4 FTE), permanent position based in Ōtepoti, Dunedin.
