The Telecommunications Operator manages hospital communications, including emergency announcements, paging, and radio dispatching. They also monitor security and alarm systems while coordinating language interpretation services for staff and patients.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Prior experience in telecommunications, medical terminology, or a hospital medical office setting is preferred.
Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Telecommunications Operator expedites telephone, radio, pager and public address communications throughout the Hospital, including emergency announcements and notifications in accordance with the Emergency Preparedness Manual. Responsibilities include contacting on-call teams; administrative, medical personnel, surgery, anesthesia, cardiac, emergency/disaster, etc.
