We are an official member of Meals on Wheels America, and our regional organization is one of the largest in the country. Every year, we reach nearly 10,000 seniors throughout 13 counties with our services.
The Meals on Wheels Food Service Associate is a full-time, Monday - Friday days only (6 am - 2 pm) position in which the Associate will work in our kitchen area to prepare the food for our senior clients.
Medical, dental and vision benefits available day one. Ten paid holidays per year and paid time off accrual starts day one. QualificationsPRIMARY FUNCTION: Prepare and package food in trays and snack boxes for client delivery.
TYPICAL WORK CONDITIONS: Work is performed in the kitchen and dry-pack areas of our facility.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Must possess general knowledge of both kitchen sanitation and food safety handling. Responsible for cleanliness of work area, including trash removal and floor/surface cleaning. Responsible for following kitchen prep sheets. Must understand portion sizes and be able to distribute the correct portions in food trays. Must be a good listener with the ability to follow directions as instructed from management. Will be responsible for other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 18 years of age or older Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language Must possess basic mathematical skills Must pass a pre-employment physical. Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, to include THC/marijuana, and background check.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Physically push and pull carts loaded with meals and other products weighing up to 200 pounds. Have the ability to work in inclement conditions (food freezers). Have the ability to hear and follow instructions. Have the ability to be aware of surrounding environment. Must be in general good health and demonstrate emotional stability. Have the ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Have the ability to lift in excess of fifty (50) pounds. Sit, bend, lift, move and stand for extended periods of time during working hours. Ability to ascend and descend stairs.
