The Histotechnician is responsible for receiving, processing, and preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination by a pathologist. They must also operate and maintain laboratory equipment while ensuring accurate and timely test results.
Candidates are required to have a High School Diploma or GED, with an Associate of Science degree preferred. Histotechnician (HT) certification by a nationally recognized agency, such as ASCP, is preferred.

The Histotechnician will perform various tasks required for receiving, processing, and preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination by the Pathologist. The Histology Technician needs to ensure tissue specimens received from surgical, diagnostic, or autopsy cases are sorted, logged, and prioritized according to the required standards. Responsibilities include, providing the highest quality medical laboratory services, working independently, and troubleshooting any problems, under the general supervision of a manager or lead technologist.
