Responsibilities
The SAFE Examiner responds to sexual assault survivors in the Emergency Department to provide specialized medical assessment and treatment. They are responsible for evidence collection, documentation, and facilitating follow-up care or testifying in court as needed.
Requirements
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree and possess a valid New York State license as a Physician, Physician Assistant, Registered Nurse, Nurse Midwife, or Nurse Practitioner. A minimum of one year of full-time clinical post-graduate experience is required.
Respond to sexual assault survivors in the Emergency Department when called in during shift.
Assist survivors of sexual violence by identifying and resolving or ameliorating needs through providing specialized medical assessment and treatment, evidence collection (as indicated), documentation, facilitation of follow-up and referrals, and testifying in court (as indicated).
