The Unit Secretary is responsible for managing administrative tasks in the Emergency Department, including patient chart maintenance, data entry, and coordinating patient flow. They also provide direct support to nursing staff and physicians by handling communications and assisting with patient discharge processes.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED and have at least two years of healthcare-related experience. Proficiency in typing at 40 wpm and a current BLS certification are required.

General Purpose of Job:
The key responsibilities for the Unit Secretary will include answering the phones, keeping track of patient ED charts, patient status, discharged patient orders, operating the page system, performing administrative support functions, ED patient charts, patient status (arrivals and discharges), data entry of patient orders, and proficient use of Exit Writer program.
Essential Duties:
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
