About the Role:
The Cook/Chef role is pivotal in delivering nutritious, safe, and appealing meals tailored to the unique dietary needs of individuals, including those living with dementia. This position requires a deep understanding of food handling best practices to ensure all meals meet health and safety standards while also catering to specialized dietary requirements. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with care staff to create menus that support the well-being and comfort of residents, particularly those with cognitive impairments. Attention to detail and empathy are essential, as the role involves adapting meal preparation to accommodate changing health conditions and preferences. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to enhancing the quality of life for individuals through thoughtful and skillful culinary care.
Minimum Qualifications:
Certification in ServSafe- Food Handler
Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment with knowledge of safe food preparation techniques.
Basic understanding of dietary needs related to dementia or willingness to undergo specialized training.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and adapt recipes to meet specific nutritional requirements.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining kitchen hygiene and food safety.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in healthcare, assisted living, or dementia care settings.
Additional training or certification in dementia care nutrition or related fields.
Knowledge of specialized diets such as texture-modified diets, low-sodium, or diabetic-friendly meal preparation.
