The American Express Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC) function provides second-line policy, framework, oversight, and control solutions to meet the Company’s legal, regulatory, and risk management mandates in connection with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Terrorism Financing (CTF), Sanctions, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC). The GFCC portfolio comprises all aspects of the Company’s first- and second-line financial crime risk management (FCRM) activities, including all lines of business in the United States and both proprietary and non-proprietary global markets.
Reporting to a Manager, GFCC Issues Management, the Analyst, GFCC Issues Management will support the team’s monitoring and review of financial crimes-related Issues, Events, and Remediations (IREs) across the GFCC program. The Analyst will help collect and organize information, follow up with stakeholders on outstanding requests and actions, maintain accurate information in systems of record, and perform defined analysis and review activities. The role provides an opportunity to develop knowledge of financial crimes compliance, issue management, and risk and control principles while supporting experienced Issues Management colleagues.

Support monitoring of financial crimes-related IREs by tracking key dates, milestones, required actions, and outstanding information and following up with stakeholders to keep activities on track.
Request, collect, and organize documentation and other supporting evidence from stakeholders, follow up on incomplete or outstanding requests, and raise delays or concerns to the Manager as appropriate.
Maintain complete and accurate IRE information and documentation in applicable systems of record, perform checks for completeness and accuracy, and work with stakeholders to correct missing or inconsistent information.
Assist Managers in evaluating IREs by reviewing documentation and evidence, performing defined analysis, validation, or testing, documenting results, and identifying information that may be incomplete, inconsistent, or require further review. Work supporting Effective Challenge will be performed under the direct oversight of an Issues Management Manager or more senior leader.
Prepare and maintain accurate monitoring documentation, analysis, trackers, and other work products, and provide timely information to support management and governance reporting.
Work with Issues Management colleagues, GFCC process owners, Compliance colleagues, and other stakeholders to obtain information, communicate outstanding needs, and support timely completion of Issues Management activities.
Develop knowledge of financial crimes risk management, issue management requirements, and risk and control principles, applying feedback and coaching to strengthen analytical skills and take on increasingly complex assignments.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; relevant coursework or experience in compliance, risk management, finance, business, data analytics, or a related field is preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to review information, identify inconsistencies, and produce accurate, high-quality work.
Strong organizational and follow-through skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments, track deadlines, and proactively follow up with stakeholders to drive work to completion.
Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and communicate questions, status, and potential concerns clearly.
Interest in developing knowledge of financial crimes risk management, including AML, Sanctions, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption, as well as issue management, risk and control concepts, and related systems and data.
