Full job description
Executive Director
Private Bank, Portfolio Solutions Group – Head of Equity Investment Specialists
J.P. Morgan Asset & Wealth Management, with client assets of $2.8 trillion, is a global leader in investment and wealth management. Its clients include institutions, high-net-worth individuals and retail investors in every major market throughout the world. The division offers investment management across all major asset classes including equities, fixed income, alternatives, multi-asset and money market funds. For individual investors, the business also provides retirement products and services, brokerage, and banking services, including trusts and estates, loans, mortgages and deposits.
The Team
The Portfolio Solutions Group seeks to provide comprehensive coverage of our managed solutions (across core and thematic strategies, and different vehicle types - separately managed accounts, mutual funds [J.P. Morgan and 3rd party where offered], and ETFs), in a coordinated way. With a product-agnostic lens, the team partners with each region and channel (Private Bank and U.S. Wealth Management) in understanding their respective priorities in order to drive and retain assets across all managed strategies. The team also works closely with our Global Investment Strategy, Office of Portfolio Construction, Manager Solutions, and ConnectWealth Teams.
The team is primarily based in New York, and partners with colleagues globally.
The Role
Lead and drive strategy for a team of Equity Investment Specialists, reporting into the Head of Portfolio Solutions Group
Serve as a subject matter expert on our discretionary equity strategies, with the ability to articulate macro and asset class views, as well as individual equity strategy investment philosophy, positioning, performance drivers, etc.
Serve as an architect, providing advice to help advisors form holistic portfolios of managed solutions for clients (the blending of managed strategies), based on J.P. Morgan’s market views, but customized according to client preference and risk level
Present on global and regional calls to message advice, and craft written communications sent to all advisors
Design scalable content across all mediums, with an appreciation for the wide range of advisor experience levels with regards to investments (ranging from new to investments to institutional-like sophistication)
Work closely with Regional Portfolio Specialists within the team to drive new investment flows and retain existing business, evaluating trends across regions and pivoting focus accordingly
Partner with regional and local leadership teams to establish region- and market-specific plans to drive new long-term investments flows and retain existing business
Provide advice and support for advisors on large prospect and existing client opportunities, meeting with prospects and clients directly on a regular basis
Advocate as necessary for new strategies, while also highlighting opportunities for enhancements in marketing, tech, and finance
Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
10+ years of relevant experience, preferably experience in direct investing, client portfolio management, or an investment specialist role at an Asset Management firm, Wealth Manager, Investment Bank, or Institutional Investor (e.g. Sovereign Wealth Fund, Endowment)
Excellent communication, presentation, and public speaking skills to clearly and passionately articulate investment views and recommendations to a wide variety of audiences, including in larger group settings
Ability to think strategically and effectively scale communication through various mediums (live presentation, written, recorded video) across a large and broad advisor and client base
Strong technical skills related to global financial markets, with the ability to engage in robust dialogue directly with Portfolio Managers
Experience with managed accounts across multi-asset, equities, and fixed income, including active and passive strategies (this role will focus on equities day-to-day)
Demonstrated aptitude for sales and client relationship management with advisors and clients
Collaborative approach, with an ability to multi-task through strong organizational and prioritization skills, and attention to detail
Positive attitude and pro-active disposition in communication style
MBA and/or CFA preferred
